[06:25] Catherine Aratel says, "Uh- no."
[06:25] Zayn says, "I think I just saw one."
[06:25] Catherine Aratel says, "Oh."
[06:25] Catherine Aratel says, "Oh, wow."
[06:26] Zayn says, "Yep."
[06:26] Zayn says, "She is right there."
[06:26] Primrose Shadecrest says, "If I am seeing spirits on top of hearing them, I am locking myself in my room."
[06:26] Catherine Aratel says, "I don't think it's a spirit."
[06:26] Catherine Aratel says, "If it is, oh well."
[06:26] Zayn says, "It's a good ghost."
[06:26] Primrose Shadecrest says, "I have no idea what one looks like, I just assume it is."
[06:26] Catherine Aratel says, "Goodbye. It was good seeing you for like, two hours."
[06:27] Melionette Meandersong silently, somberly warbles. She wordlessly ponders on a tree branch.
(Melionette Meandersong)
[06:27] Primrose Shadecrest asks, "...Ghost?"
[06:27] Zayn says, "Yes."
[06:27] Catherine Aratel says, "She's dead? Wow."
[06:27] Zayn says, "But a benevolent one."
[06:27] Primrose Shadecrest says, "Your attempts at instilling fear in my heart will not work."
[06:27] Primrose Shadecrest says, "Though it seems it is working for my mind."
[06:28] Zayn says, "Heh."
[06:29] Catherine Aratel says, "...so."
[06:29] Melionette Meandersong says, ".. ghosts can be borne of most sad things; tortured essence that clings to the world as an echo of saddest death. I am fortutiously not such."
[06:29] Zayn says, "Yeah, I was messing with you guys."
[06:30] Zayn says, "She ain't really a ghost."
[06:30] Catherine Aratel says, "...there's propaganda here."
[06:30] Catherine Aratel nods approvingly.
(Catherine Aratel)
[06:31] Primrose Shadecrest says, "...I see."
[06:31] Catherine Aratel exclaims, "-- anyways!"
[06:31] Catherine Aratel asks, "Not-ghost... are you a doctor?"
[06:31] Primrose Shadecrest says, "...We shall be on our way then- or ask first."
[06:32] Zayn says, "The best doctor I've ever seen."
[06:32] Melionette Meandersong asks, ".. that I am, might you require medical assistance?"
[06:32] Zayn says, "You're adressing miss Melionette Meandersong."
[06:32] Zayn did the introductions.
(Zayn)
[06:33] Primrose Shadecrest says, "..."
[06:34] Zayn says, "That badge looks very official."
[06:35] Melionette Meandersong says, "T'was given unto me after I did an accreditation exam. I would hope such looks official enough."
[06:35] Melionette Meandersong says, "Ho-ho.."
[06:35] Catherine Aratel says, "Wha-"
[06:35] Catherine Aratel says, "Girl-"
[06:35] Catherine Aratel shakes their head to Something.
(Catherine Aratel)
[06:36] Zayn says, "I should do one of those exams."
[06:36] Melionette Meandersong gives an unenthusiastic 'ho-ho', spelling out doom and bad omen. Or, rather, the fact that she is tired and wounded herself, for some reason or another.
(Melionette Meandersong)
[06:37] Primrose Shadecrest says, "I am indeed a girl. Very perceptive."
[06:40] To Melionette's question, there was only a nod -- and the imminent change of something, of a possible magic-enhanced act that had been previously mentioned to Primrose. Some sort of self-applied illusions or other metaphysical shenanigans, it seemed, its halting causing Catherine to begin to shiver and grimace.
"Ah... yes. The occult." They blurt out. "...no, even worse than that. My soul, I think." Out of a moderately-sized back they picked an arcanium trauma kit, handing it over to the medic- as blue eyes traveled to Primrose, a brow quirked.
They had whispered some- suspicious-sounding things in their ear when taken out of context, which visibly distracted them from the task at hand. They blinked and shook their head, though, returning eyes to the doctor.
"...I'unno. The point is, I am... not having a good time." They smiled.
(Catherine Aratel)
[06:42] Alain Ueda raised a finger.
(Alain Ueda)
[06:42] Alain Ueda asks, "Meli can I assist for experience? Or even perform the operation under your auspices?"
[06:51] Oh.
A brow gently arches, risen now as that singular still-working optic analyses with due scrutiny. Corporeal blue is soon aflush and aglow, spectral vision giving way to a world beyond. Her feet gently set on the ground, before an arm ventures forward - to touch.
A ripple of unaspected mana weaves, borne from the fingertips of a false, kelp-skinned arm after a certain botanist's five-hour toil.
"Ah.. understood. You are not so w-wrong in your ascertaining. Such is deep.
'Tis an exceedingly malignant malaise. 'Tis with duest sadness I need say this is beyond the scope of my c-current abilities," An exhausted voice expresses such sombrely, "W-while I.. may offer harmony-- to the spirit with my song, so that i-it might work to stay this abhorrence, t'would be no absolute balm."
"A holy magus.. yes. That would be well suited to this task, yet--" There is a small flinch all of a sudden, as something crude winds within her very self. Her arm seems to twitch and snap back, fingers flexed with some degree of pain, twitching there. Her eyes press shut, "Ah- ah. Do forgive me."
A haggard breath leaves her.
"I.. would suggest asking Heir Sunsets over Moonlight, but if you seek any practitioner of any nation.. Alain, I am sure you know someone, no? You should offer your help and counsel."
(Melionette Meandersong)
[06:51] Alain Ueda asks, "...You need a holy magus?"
[06:51] Alain Ueda held up a hand wreathed in holy light.
(Alain Ueda)
[06:51] Alain Ueda says, "Y-you know..."
[06:51] Alain Ueda asks, "I'm...a holy magi right?"
[06:52] Melionette Meandersong says, "Of course. Do go on, Alain."
[06:52] Melionette Meandersong says, "T'was a nudge."
[06:52] Alain Ueda says, "What specifically do you need from me? I'm only getting half this conversation unfortunately."
[06:52] Melionette Meandersong asks, "Do you know how to look deep into the cause of a malady?"
[06:53] Melionette Meandersong says, "Look at her."
[06:53] Alain Ueda pointed at Primrose and then Catherine.
(Alain Ueda)
[06:53] Alain Ueda asks, "Which one?"
[06:53] Melionette Meandersong gestures to Catherine.
(Melionette Meandersong)
[06:53] Alain Ueda says, "And of course let me preface this by asking for your consent."
[06:53] Alain Ueda says, "As well as asking if you're 'allergic' to holy magic."
[06:53] Catherine Aratel says, "It's granted."
[06:53] Catherine Aratel asks, "Uh- I think not?"
[06:54] Catherine Aratel says, "I don't know why I would be..."
[06:54] Catherine Aratel says, "Not an occultist, if that's what you're asking..."
[06:54] Alain Ueda says, "Some people can be wounded by it due to other reasons."
[06:54] Alain Ueda says, "But if that happens I'll stop and resort to more...cosmic means."
[06:54] Catherine Aratel asks, "Such as..?"
[06:54] Alain Ueda says, "Cosmic magic. It could be a viable substitute."
[06:54] Alain Ueda says, "But yes, let me take a look here."
[06:54] Catherine Aratel asks, "No, I mean- what other reasons..?"
[06:54] Alain Ueda asks, "Oh like...curses and such? Maybe a species I've never met?"
[06:54] Alain Ueda says, "Best to just be cautious."
[06:54] Catherine Aratel says, "Oh- then none of those, mhm. I'm not allergic."
[06:54] Catherine Aratel nods, slowly- tiredly.
(Catherine Aratel)
[06:55] Alain Ueda says, "Allow me to take a look though..."
[06:56] Melionette Meandersong says, ".. cosmic. 'Tis wise, that. Yes, that would be more than apt a route. I a-apologise for my scant assistance, this badge is sadly silver and not gold.."
[06:56] Melionette Meandersong sheepishly rubs at the back of her head, before drifting back to the tree.
(Melionette Meandersong)
[06:57] Tandava Meanderdog ambushes Melionette by climbing up to the tree, draping herself over its branches.
(Tandava Meanderdog)
[07:00] The Lifestream surged through his form as it came to rest within the circuits of his eyes. Those sharp crimson shifting into a brilliant emerald as he peered through the veil. Exposing the circuits within Catherine's body as he reached out to gently grasp her wrist.
"If it hurts at any point simply tell me and I shall immediately retract my mana." his voice gentle as he allowed holy energy to flow forth. Seeping into Catherine's body and flowing through her circuits. His gaze shifting towards the woman's center as he noticed that unnatural force.
An energy which clearly didn't belong to her and nestled like a cancer within her form. His power gradually flowing towards it till he rapidly withdrew it from her body. Occult, he had sensed it very briefly and he reacted swiftly.
The magic that had been filling her with warmth fading and returning to his form. "Come with me. I'll need to find another doctor to assist with this though I'm confident I can treat this." tilting his head as he studied the duo in front of him.
"Don't worry, I'll have this handled but we'll need to be careful. I may use cosmic energy to erode that occult energy without agitating it. The last thing I would want is holy magic and occult combating each other within you." gesturing for them to follow.
(Alain Ueda)
[07:07] It was an injury that Melionette could not treat- and though she excused herself time and time again, Catherine just nodded, likely understanding the severity of the issue themselves. Alain, too, was one who sought to help; but even him did not feel comfortable treating it alone.
And- shiver and grimace they did again, as they felt the holy magic seeping into their circuits.
It seemed as if the effect of the occult had already spread farther than when they had first gotten this injury, due to the lack of immediate care. The results now were a Catherine that could've might as well have that curse within them- all the while it attempted to break through the barrier of their soul...
A shake of their head. "Ah... ehe." They chuckled. "Seems like I might as well be cursed now, mhm..." And they nodded to themselves and to the following words, moving to follow the Ueda -- if only to stop their steps for a few moments.
Blue trailed to the cloak of Fortune. "...oh- uh. Would you be taking me to Gloomlight or one of their vassals? I'm- of Midpoint."
(Catherine Aratel)
[07:09] Alain Ueda says, "I do see that now..."
[07:09] Alain Ueda asks, "Are you going to try claiming the coin for my head?"
[07:09] Primrose Shadecrest asks, "You have a bounty?"
[07:09] Catherine Aratel asks, "There's a bounty for your head..?"
[07:09] Catherine Aratel says, "But, no."
[07:09] Primrose Shadecrest says, "I feel like I am the only one that does not have one..."
[07:09] Alain Ueda says, "I'm pretty sure they'd be more than happy to ransom me at the very least."
[07:09] Primrose Shadecrest says, "I want to be in the club."
[07:09] Alain Ueda says, "Considering who my mother is."
[07:09] Catherine Aratel says, "Ah- well."
[07:10] Catherine Aratel says, "No. My soul's fucked."
[07:10] Catherine Aratel says, "I'll only attack you if you attack me first."
[07:10] Alain Ueda says, "Alain Ueda, I'll help you but I need you to promise me something in turn."
[07:10] Catherine Aratel says, "Well- that wouldn't be attacking... but you get the idea..."
[07:10] Primrose Shadecrest says, "A thousand on 'Do not fight in the war'"
[07:10] Catherine Aratel says, "Yeah, I think that'll be it too."
[07:10] Catherine Aratel says, "But go on..."
[07:11] Alain Ueda says, "I'm not going to ask her not to try defending her home. That'd be a dick move even if I think it's the right choice."
[07:11] Alain Ueda says, "..."
[07:11] Alain Ueda says, "Genders hard sometimes. I blame my mom."
[07:11] Catherine Aratel says, "Don't mention it! Move on, gaslight yourself and others into believing you never made a mistake..."
[07:12] Alain Ueda exclaims, "Right! So!"
[07:12] Catherine Aratel asks, "...but, back on the topic- what's the promise?"
[07:12] Alain Ueda says, "Fight in the war? Don't fight in it? I simply want you not to hunt or kill any of the people I care for. Light wounds or less please and only if you have to."
[07:12] Catherine Aratel says, "Kill..? I'm not a murderer. I can't- promise I won't hunt anyone, but I need you to know that they won't be killed..."
[07:12] Alain Ueda asks, "So you would hunt down my friends?"
[07:12] Catherine Aratel says, "The captures are strategic only. I'm not a murderer- Midpoint is not a murderer either."
[07:12] Primrose Shadecrest says, "..."
[07:13] Catherine Aratel says, "...to be honest-"
[07:13] Alain Ueda says, "No, your nation has actively put bounties on my mother Loramelian -- dead. "
[07:13] Catherine Aratel says, "No. But I know I'd be hunted. I'd be defending myself only."
[07:13] Catherine Aratel says, "And If I captured someone, I wouldn't let them go. Just as they wouldn't do that to me. But,"
[07:13] Catherine Aratel says, "Unlike them, I would usher, beg and argue so that they don't get hurt."
[07:14] Catherine Aratel says, "I would- try to be the best captor possible."
[07:14] Alain Ueda says, "..."
[07:14] Primrose Shadecrest says, "They are agreeing to your terms, in short."
[07:14] Alain Ueda says, "I'm going to be blunt and say I dislike your nation. However, I won't let you walk around wounded. Let's go get you treated."
[07:14] Catherine Aratel says, "Yes, what Primrose said."
[09:36] Jólnir Wilkinsson says, "If I come across another I will be sure to return."
[09:36] Vanitas Caewynn says, "Mhmm."
[09:36] Tandava Meanderdog exclaims, "Nice..!"
[09:36] Tandava Meanderdog says, "..."
[09:36] Tandava Meanderdog says, "Cielia."
[09:36] Cielia was gone but for a few moments, and when she came back her seat was taken...
(Cielia)
[09:36] Cielia flinched.
(Cielia)
[09:36] Tandava Meanderdog asks, "H-how are you feeling..-?"
[09:36] Vanitas Caewynn lifts himself up, and waves at Cielia.
(Vanitas Caewynn)
[09:36] Cielia says, "I, got. Permission."
[09:36] Cielia says, "To leave."
[09:37] Gwyndolyn P. Kasca asks, "..?"
[09:37] Tandava Meanderdog says, "... c'mere, hon."
[09:37] Gwyndolyn P. Kasca exclaims, "Whaaat happened?!"
[09:37] Cielia flew over, and sat down.
(Cielia)
[09:37] Tandava Meanderdog raises from her seat to pull the faeborne girl into a hug.
(Tandava Meanderdog)
[09:37] Vanitas Caewynn cups his hand toward Gwyndolyn's ear.
(Vanitas Caewynn)
[09:37] Cielia says, "Thank, you, Miss Tandava..."
[09:37] Cielia hugged back.
(Cielia)
[09:37] Cielia nodded, and hugged tightly.
(Cielia)
[09:37] Tatsuya Amamiya says, "..."
[09:38] Jólnir Wilkinsson says, "Oh-"
[09:38] Jólnir Wilkinsson says, "Before I depart."
[09:38] Jólnir Wilkinsson approaches Vanitas.
(Jólnir Wilkinsson)
[09:38] Jólnir Wilkinsson reaches into a bag and pulls free a core.
(Jólnir Wilkinsson)
[09:38] Vanitas Caewynn asks, "Mhmm?"
[09:39] Cielia says, "Mister, Tatsuya. Dor'alanor."
[09:39] Jólnir Wilkinsson asks, "Would you be interested in this?"
[09:39] Gwyndolyn P. Kasca rubs her forehead.
(Gwyndolyn P. Kasca)
[09:39] Vanitas Caewynn says, "A core? Lets see."
[09:39] Tandava Meanderdog says, "Oh, that's interesting.."
[09:39] Tandava Meanderdog leans forward to eye it.
(Tandava Meanderdog)
[09:39] Cielia nodded to Tandava. She would.
(Cielia)
[09:39] Vanitas Caewynn says, "- wow, that's not bad at all. I meaaan..."
[09:39] Vanitas Caewynn appraises it, carefully.
(Vanitas Caewynn)
[09:39] Vanitas Caewynn says, "I guess I would, yes."
[09:42] Tatsuya quietly stares at the bandages on her face. "..." Something immediately clicked in his mind before quietly, turning a gaze over towards Tandava. "Who?"
(Tatsuya Amamiya)
[09:42] Jólnir Wilkinsson says, "Well, perhaps it may very well be available during the auction. It could empower your blade well. And your gloves."
[09:42] Jólnir Wilkinsson gestures to Cielia.
(Jólnir Wilkinsson)
[09:42] Tandava Meanderdog lifts her gaze toward Tatsuya, lips pursed.
(Tandava Meanderdog)
[09:43] Tandava Meanderdog says, ".. blame Lykon, Tatsuya."
[09:43] Tatsuya Amamiya says, "He's dead when I find him."
[09:43] Cielia says, "It, 's. Okay. I'm fine."
[09:43] Vanitas Caewynn says, "I will keep it in mind. But, if it cheers Cielia up, why not offer it to them."
[09:43] Vanitas Caewynn says, "Nonetheless - thank you, Jolnir."
[09:43] Cielia exclaims, "I'm just happy, Miss Meandersong is back..!"
[09:43] Cielia seemed to be already in quite a good mood.
(Cielia)
[09:43] Arkaan enters the streets of Delphia. They seem to find a large group of people! Perfect. The young man shifts over before pulling out a piece of paper from his robes.
It simply has one thing scribbled down upon it in sloppy handwriting.
L U M I N K I N G?
(Arkaan)
[09:46] Vanitas Caewynn says, ".. Well, since no one is going to address that pitiful handwriting."
[09:46] Vanitas Caewynn says, "Read it out to me."
[09:47] Gwyndolyn P. Kasca says, "He is asking where the Lumin King is."
[09:47] Arkaan says, "...."
[09:47] Vanitas Caewynn asks, "Why would you like to meet him?"
[09:48] Jólnir Wilkinsson lumbers off silently during the distractions.
(Jólnir Wilkinsson)
[09:49] "....."
Cielia might say it is fine, but Tatsuya is dangerously silent for the most part.
More than he should've.
Lykon was a threat that could've been took care of, slipping all over the place underneath his gaze. The fact that this happened is only certain that he should not let his guard down even for a minute. A light sigh breeze from his lips before gazing over and gesturing over to Xiao to come to his range.
(Tatsuya Amamiya)
[09:50] Arkaan takes a moment to give a gentle smile and a thumbs up. Gwyndolyn seems to hit the nail directly on the head. Still, as Vanitas advances a bead of sweat begins to drip down the side of his cheek.
Wasn't this a bit close?
"......" Regardless, he'd have to stuck it up. They'd only offer a soft whistle in response to the question.
B d E f F# A C D.
An assortment of notes as that smile of his seems to grow a bit wider.
(Arkaan)
[09:54] Gwyndolyn sits with more than a thoughtful expression on her face; that frown of hers is a rare thing to see on the visage. Yet, it softens, as her ears sharpen and focus on the particular melody the whistle produced by Arkaan offers.
She... tilts her head, and seems more curious, than anything, about what this sequence could have possibly conveyed.
(Gwyndolyn P. Kasca)
[09:55]
{Character Loaded, IC Year: 2127}
[09:56] Melionette Meandersong flutters down from the tree after a bleary few hours of quiet meditation - with quiet, brewing intent.
(Melionette Meandersong)
[09:57] Tandava Meanderdog depresses a box into her arms as soon as she stands up.
(Tandava Meanderdog)
[09:57] He had, of course, assumed that the Aphrosi before him was capable of speech at the very least. However, it seemed this was not the case, prompting Vanitas to exhale slowly. Nevertheless, he awaited a response.
His left heel tapped rhythmically against the pavement, a practiced motion born of impatience and contemplation. Instead of words, he was met with a melodious whistle.
One that he barely understood.
"Not the most common disability, I'd say." he mused, a hint of curiosity in his voice. "So, you speak in music rather than words, huh?"
Vanitas turned on his heel, his gaze settling on Melionette. "Any guesses?"
(Vanitas Caewynn)
[09:57] Melionette Meandersong says, "..."
[09:57] Tandava Meanderdog whispers to Melionette Meandersong: .. from Aline.
[09:58] Melionette Meandersong takes the box into her gentle clutch, staring at it for a measure of seconds. That is, until Tandava speaks- she softly nods, an eyelid fluttering in surprise.
(Melionette Meandersong)
[09:58] {Item} You picked up Enhanced Trauma Kit. Dropped by Tandava Meanderdog..
[09:58] Melionette Meandersong says, ".. s-- sorry, in spite of my bardic proficiency, I cannot translate tunes."
[09:58] Tandava Meanderdog stares up at her wife, with a light smile. She steals one of the Selkie's hands next- no room to even breathe.
(Tandava Meanderdog)
[09:59] Melionette Meandersong tucks the trauma kit away into a weathered satchel, a hand downcastedly slipping around Tandava's own.
(Melionette Meandersong)
[10:01] Cielia's smile faltered, the expression on the man's face setting worrying thoughts back into the forefront of her mind.
"Mister Tatsuya. I'm-m, okay. So is everyone else. And, each, loss makes us stronger, right?"
She stared at the man with her eye, stern conviction shining through her violet iris.
"So, it's okay."
Mister Tatsuya was a father, and a husband. He had people who needed him.
She wouldn't let him chase down an enemy, for her sake.
That was her job, to get stronger, and to overcome.
(Cielia)
[10:02] Arkaan lets forth a voiceless chuckle in response to the question and offers a thumbs up. Well, at least that portion was easy to answer. Still, for both of their sanity and time he'd have to improvise, especially with Melionette being unable to translate.
Arkaan's hands clap together lightly, both to gather Vanitas's attention and to begin their game.
Charades.
The young man shifts down a bit to pick up a rock, tossing it up and down in his hand. With his right hand holding it, the left would point an index finger before a small stream of water splashes the piece of earth.
Water.
Rock.
Next, the item would slowly be extended to the fae in front of him, only offering it with a gentle bow.
Offering?
Gift?
It was tough.
However, surely the wisdom of Delphia would be shown here. He was told they had some of the brightest minds, after all.
(Arkaan)
[10:09] Gwyndolyn P. Kasca vibrates idly.
(Gwyndolyn P. Kasca)
[10:17] Remorse twinkles in that sole remaining eye. A sunken, quiet look bids the ground with unabated regret. With all energy that is due, three slow, methodical, deliberate steps are taken forward, with a gait that might suggest it hurts.
".. Miss Cielia."
Half-closed cuts still litter the array of exposed flesh, her hair looks tousled and unkempt as though she has elected to disregard the need to ever care for such. As her eye comes to shut, you can see a darkness that underlines. She does not feel well, nor does she feel okay.
And she only has herself to blame for that.
Without any pre-determining indicator, she prostrates unto the bare floor in front of the girl, right next to Tatsuya, new, clean robes to meet the dusted ground. A palm of flesh and a palm of nature hit flatly against the floor.
".. you are an e-extraordinary gift to me and t-- to those you touch with your kindness and whimsy," She whispers,
"Your warmth and b-bottomless energy ever-unabated," She mutters,
"You carry a light that may yet g-glisten eternally, like stars 'gainst midnight's dark sea," She assures,
"I thank you for your c-concern for me,
And I am deeply, deeply sorry for all the unforgivably horrid w-worrying I have brought onto you."
An apology, from the ground.
(Melionette Meandersong)
[10:18] Linden Aubreen nods.
(Linden Aubreen)
[10:18] Gwyndolyn P. Kasca nods.
(Gwyndolyn P. Kasca)
[10:18] Linden Aubreen says, "Nice haircut, princess."
[10:18] Gwyndolyn P. Kasca exclaims, "Thank you, Linden!"
[10:18] Gwyndolyn P. Kasca says, "Nice eyepatch."
[10:18] Linden Aubreen says, "...Thanks."
[10:18] There wasn't much response elicited as Arkaan let off an invisible laugh, save for visible concern on Vanitas's face. Melionette, of all people, could not translate Arkaan's form of communication, which surprised him.
Nonetheless, Vanitas watched every movement carefully as Arkaan pulled a rock seemingly from the ground to start a game of charades.
Signs of fatigue began to show on Vanitas' face as he grew increasingly disinterested. However, he indulged in the game, if only to get to the bottom of it.
He received the rock with a welcoming hand, turning it over with a curious mind. Analysing, judging.
"It doesn't take a genius to realize you want to give something, but surely there is more symbolism behind just a simple rock drenched in water.
Yet, I fail to see how this involves the Lumin King, even with all the ideas thrumming through my head.
We will not partake in these charades any longer. If you are incapable of speech, write it on a piece of paper, yes?
Make it quick."
(Vanitas Caewynn)
[10:18] Gwyndolyn P. Kasca nods, smiling! She is sincere, at least.
(Gwyndolyn P. Kasca)
[10:18] Linden Aubreen says, "It's for decoration, sorta."
[10:19] Gwyndolyn P. Kasca asks, "Oh, really?"
[10:19] Gwyndolyn P. Kasca exclaims, "That's good!"
[10:19] Gwyndolyn P. Kasca says, "I thought you lost an eye."
[10:19] Linden Aubreen says, "You could say that... somewhat."
[10:19] Linden Aubreen says, "Hold on, I'm going out west, you can come if you want."
[10:20] Gwyndolyn P. Kasca says, "Uhmm...! I'd come, but I think I should check on people here."
[10:20] Gwyndolyn P. Kasca says, "A lot happened."
[10:20] Gwyndolyn P. Kasca says, "But I'll come hang out soon, Linden."
[10:20] Linden Aubreen says, "I'll be back."
[10:21] Gwyndolyn P. Kasca exclaims, "Sure!"
[10:24] Tatsuya watches the pink-haired one leaves after a nod of his, letting off a small huff of air.
His eyes cornered themselves to gaze upon the faeborne as the smile faltered, and the words of his own being used against him in this case. "....." The swordsman turned back towards Cielia in silence.
The stern gaze would be focused on his quiet, half-lidded aureate iris for that short period of time. There was conviction, although left unsure how much of the embers seems to linger.
Melionette finally spoke that broke his gaze and leading it over towards the selkie who also seems like she had better days. It was a little much news to take in, having not known of the situation to which his eyes flew over towards Tandava for that and then back to her.
Melionette was gaze one last time and turns back to the teenager who would now only express his worries that finally altered his face.
There was some thoughts for awhile on what he could say, but for right now, he would carefully pat her head in a gentle fashion. "... Perhaps for right now, I'll be concerned about your recovery first and far most."
And upon that cue, the Amamiya looks back towards Xiao with a nod.
(Tatsuya Amamiya)
[10:25] Xiao Amamiya gives her own nod as well, taking the kit as she holds it out towards Tatsuya for him to use.
(Xiao Amamiya)
[10:26] "... Thank you."
Tatsuya holds it up towards Melionette to also take the kit off his hands for now.
(Tatsuya Amamiya)
[10:28] She joins next to Tatsuya, practically being shoulder to shoulder as she sticks around to see how it'll be used. And perhaps, to keep an eye on Tatsuya as well. Whatever he ended up learning clearly wasn't sitting well with him.
(Xiao Amamiya)
[10:30] Tatsuya Amamiya whispers to Melionette Meandersong: Go ahead and take this one too. Least use one of those on yourself and the other on Cielia.
[10:33] The blonde's face only upturns lightly in surprise at the sharp words. However, all it seems to warrant is a soft sigh and a gentle smile. Most people would get frustrated with someone who didn't speak. Still, he thought a fun game would've broken the ice.
Maybe he's just not as---
Words are beamed into his head. The young man's gaze only turns to Gwyndolyn, giving an armored thumbs up before turning back to Vanitas. There's a few moment of contemplating.
Well, he was half right. He wanted to get something from the Lumin King. However, it seemed like his charades weren't up to snuff. Maybe one day, he'd be able to communicate with just gestures.
"........"
Arkaan reaches to his side, before pulling out a bag of coin. It would gently be shaken, before pointing to the rock. He didn't have any paper. Maybe that would be enough? An apologetic smile is all that is given as he ends up having to play one last light round of the guessing game.
(Arkaan)
[10:36] Linden Aubreen says, "Lord Camino."
[10:36] Gwyndolyn P. Kasca flashes a thumbs-up, in return!
(Gwyndolyn P. Kasca)
[10:36] Tandava Meanderdog whispers to Melionette Meandersong: .. ah. Love? You're n-not going to defend the Traverse, I hope.
[10:36] Tandava Meanderdog whispers to Melionette Meandersong: ... you need... rest.
[10:36] Melionette Meandersong says, "..."
[10:36] Gwyndolyn P. Kasca asks, "? ? ?"
[10:37] Melionette Meandersong whispers to Tandava Meanderdog: .. no, love. I shall leave such to Mnemosyne.
[10:37] Tatsuya Amamiya whispers to Melionette Meandersong: ... Mel?
[10:37] Tandava Meanderdog whispers to Melionette Meandersong: I pray.. t-they will have enough people.
[10:38] Tandava Meanderdog laces and unlaces her fingers together again and again, eyes glued to her lap.
(Tandava Meanderdog)
[10:38] With a measured hand, Vanitas slowly reached up towards his face with a hand, the index finger and thumb caressing the bridge of his nose in a gesture of wearied contemplation. He then turned to the Lumin King himself, thoughts coming and leaving his head.
(Vanitas Caewynn)
[10:38] Melionette Meandersong twists her partly guised expression into something lightly discontented.
(Melionette Meandersong)
[10:40] Tatsuya Amamiya whispers to Melionette Meandersong: Melionette.
[10:40] Vanitas Caewynn says, "You'll have to wait until he returns."
[10:40] Arkaan only gives a nod of the head and a gentle bow of thanks.
(Arkaan)
[10:41] Melionette Meandersong whispers to Tatsuya Amamiya: .. y-yes?
[10:41] Melionette Meandersong whispers to Tatsuya Amamiya: .. oh, I.. yes- yes, yes.
[10:41] {Item} You picked up Enhanced Trauma Kit. Dropped by Tatsuya Amamiya..
[10:41] Tatsuya lets off a light sigh.
(Tatsuya Amamiya)
[10:41] Tatsuya Amamiya whispers to Melionette Meandersong: You were zoning out on me.
[10:41] Tatsuya Amamiya whispers to Melionette Meandersong: Are you alright?
[10:41] Melionette Meandersong whispers to Tatsuya Amamiya: .. I apologise, my dear friend. I..
[10:41] Melionette Meandersong whispers to Tatsuya Amamiya: .. y-yes. More than so.
[10:42] Tatsuya Amamiya whispers to Melionette Meandersong: ... Alright. Just so you know, I was worried just knowing about what happened now.
[10:43] Melionette Meandersong whispers to Tatsuya Amamiya: .. t-t'was a situation borne of my own folly, o-of which I shall navigate myself. All will come to pass, in.. due time.
[10:44] Melionette Meandersong whispers to Tatsuya Amamiya: Y-you need not worry.
[10:45] Tatsuya Amamiya whispers to Melionette Meandersong: I will and should be worried.
[10:45] Tatsuya Amamiya whispers to Melionette Meandersong: That's something I plan not to get rid of.
[10:46] Melionette Meandersong whispers to Tatsuya Amamiya: .. I understand. I w-will be safer so you need not ever worry further.
[10:47] Tatsuya Amamiya says, "...."
[10:47] Tatsuya Amamiya whispers to Melionette Meandersong: For now, I'll let you off the hook and let you recover first.
[10:48] Clementine Dominic grips Dolyn's head. Grip.
(Clementine Dominic)
[10:48] Tandava Meanderdog asks, "- Clem?"
[10:48] Gwyndolyn P. Kasca IS GRIPPED?!
(Gwyndolyn P. Kasca)
[10:48] Melionette Meandersong whispers to Tatsuya Amamiya: .. thank you.
[10:48] Clementine Dominic says, "Hello, Tandava."
[10:48] Gwyndolyn P. Kasca exclaims, "NGAH!!!"
[10:48] Tandava Meanderdog says, "S'been a while.. like.."
[10:48] Gwyndolyn P. Kasca says, "What is that creature next to you."
[10:48] Tandava Meanderdog says, "Years.."
[10:48] Clementine Dominic says, "Mhm.."
[10:48] Tatsuya Amamiya says, "... Just next time, I'd like to be in the know if it concerns my friends."
[10:49] Tatsuya Amamiya says, "Least for some of the things."
[10:50] Clementine Dominic says, "After Arcadia fell, we moved to the sister's tower, and- well. Magnolia became dellusioned with things. For her own well being I myself have stepped out of it all. We are just enjoying what we have. Spekaing of."
[10:50] Petunia Dominic casted her glance aside, oblivious to the nomenclature used to describe her, or simply playing dumb.
(Petunia Dominic)
[10:50] Tandava Meanderdog says, "I h-heard she left."
[10:50] Tandava Meanderdog says, "But- yes, that's all.. about w-what I know. I don't blame you, really."
[10:51] Linden Aubreen says, "Magnolia... I hope she's alright."
[10:53] Arkaan gives a gentle nod in response to the mental statement.
They raise up from their sitting position on the bench, giving a formal and low bow, with one hand place over their chest. Granted, it wasn't the usual Delphia greeting it was a formal sign of respect.
He waits for a few moments before offering a soft whistle, a soothing melody.
B C E F G.
The blonde-haired youth would then shift his hand to a bag, before pulling out a water crystal and then a bag of coins. A bit more to the point than the game of charades he played with a stranger.
Perhaps he wanted to buy them?
(Arkaan)
[10:53] 'Dor'alanor, young Cielia.'
'Do you need anything, young Cielia?'
'Keep you head up high, young Cielia.'
'.. Miss Cielia.'
Cielia's eye shook.
...Was it, because she didn't leave when Miss Meandersong told her to? Was it because she attacked someone she knew she couldn't beat? Was it, because she got herself hurt, and even caused trouble for Miss Tandava?
"I-, I-I'm, um, -I"
Cielia stuttered through her words, for once completely independently from her injury.
She didn't want to be hated.
Would an apology suffice? What could she even say...?
Cielia panicked, unsure how to register the words that were coming in, unsure how to act when Miss Meandersong bowed like that. Why was Miss Meandersong the one apologizing?
"N-no, I should apologize, instead, I. I should have listened to you, I'm sorry, for causing worry too, I-"
—Miss Meandersong, she was injured. Did- Did she get hurt while captured?
Cielia's mouth opened and closed like a fish, words failing to come out. Her expression slowly melted into a mess.
"I-I'm sorry, I brought you there, and, I wasn't able to stop them, I-I didn't listen to you, and I didn't believe you when you said you'd come home, and I caused trouble for Miss Tandava, and, and..."
She began crying.
"Thank you for coming home..."
(Cielia)
[10:54] Clementine lifted a hand atop Petunia's head. A pat: A rub, the similarity between the two was obvious. Clementine made little to no note of it. A gesture towards Camino.
"In a round about way, that one there is a good friend of yours." She was speaking to the youth.
Clementine's smile followed the red of her eyes, as she straightened her back at momentarily stared at Camino. Removing her hand from atop the child's head. "Most of these people are 'friends.'" There was irony in her voice, but it was neither here nor there.
"She is still with me: With us, she just spends most her time upon the island. She has little she want to do with Meranthe as a whole, and myself included." She rolled her shoulders, "Ambitions gave way when actions failed to manifest, when people did wrong in the guise of good, and progress. Other people can carry on that fight. I'm content knowing the answers to my own questions."
(Clementine Dominic)
[10:56] Clementine Dominic asks, "This one here my child: Is of Domonic. They will be around, and can use a healthy-dose of family, by blood or not. I think I've been a good mom-- riight?"
[10:56] Gwyndolyn P. Kasca says, "I will teach the child how to cause mischief."
[10:56] Petunia Dominic says, ".. Yes."
[11:01] The girl froze up if for a moment when a hand was placed atop her head, though the subconscious act was as quick to come as it was to go.
Intently did she listen to introductions, though her attention was stolen by a crying woman. What transpired was of no interest to her; only the emotional uptilt into tears from a mix of relief and happiness. Interesting.
"Ah. Hello."
Friends. The teen nodded her head once, slowly, then her own eyes of red trailed about those Clementine was referring. Quietly, she just let them speak, like a child who's mom met her friends at the parking lot of a mall.
(Petunia Dominic)

[15:52] {LONG DISTANCE FROM: Melione Hiraeth}: Melione Hiraeth's Letter To Melionette Meandersong, 2127, Divines sake, fact check your newspaper this is pathetic. If you're going to take the verbal vomit of Gloomlight at least note it.
If you want actual clarification you can seek it and learn the truth about the upcoming slaughter of Denath, or you could continue to spout the rhetoric of those who do not speak the truth.
Honestly, you call yourself a newspaper but you've become nothing but a sad tabloid.
Sincerely,
Melione Hiraeth

[15:53] Melionette Meandersong eats the piece of paper.
(Melionette Meandersong)
[16:05] Tandava Meanderdog says, "Hihi, love."
[16:05] Tandava Meanderdog asks, ".. how are you doing?"
[16:06] Melionette Meandersong says, ".. aah? Dor'alanor, dear. 'Tis all well."
[16:06] Melionette Meandersong says, "Yes.. all well indeed.."
[16:06] Tandava Meanderdog asks, "H-have you gotten seen to by a doctor yet?"
[16:06] Melionette Meandersong depressedly sighs, her shoulders slackening. She looks to be in pain.
(Melionette Meandersong)
[16:06] Melionette Meandersong says, ".. no, not yet, b-but 'tis quite fine."
[16:07] Tandava Meanderdog reaches forward, gently stroking the Selkie's cheek with a thumb.
(Tandava Meanderdog)
[16:07] Melionette Meandersong says, "The-- injuries wrought a-are of my own folly, I can stick with them a f-few moons longer."
[16:07] Melionette Meandersong shudders faintly, before allowing her sole eye to clasp closed in some form of fleeting relief.
(Melionette Meandersong)
[16:07] Tandava Meanderdog says, "Mh.. s'not a g-good feeling..."
[16:07] Tandava Meanderdog asks, "No.. we'll get y-you some help, sooner rather than later, mhm?"
[16:08] Melionette Meandersong says, ".. y-- yes, yes. Yes, ah.. b-but I truly shall be fine for the now, for the while.."
[16:09] Zayn exclaims, "Hey, there they are!"
[16:09] Melionette Meandersong ghostily clambers through her bar's inventory. Clink, clatter, clink. She pulls out a few mugs, and brews some tea.
(Melionette Meandersong)
[16:09] Zayn says, "The proprietor herself."
[16:10] Melionette Meandersong asks, ".. Dor'alanor, Zayn. T'would be amiss to keep y-you without a beverage. Black tea serves well enough, yes?"
[16:10] {Item} You drop Garden Tea.
[16:10] {Item} You drop Garden Tea.
[16:10] Tandava Meanderdog slumps over the counter, drumming her fingers over the other end. Contrary to her slump, she's wide eyed and awake.
(Tandava Meanderdog)
[16:10] Zayn says, "Yes, it serves me wonderfully for now."
[16:10] Zayn he shrugs and sips some. The holy water would have to wait.
(Zayn)
[16:11] Melionette Meandersong says, "Aah .. good, good."
[16:11] Zayn asks, "Tough day, Tanny?"
[16:12] Tandava Meanderdog says, "Tough? .. eh..."
[16:12] Serania says, "Fifteen, sir."
[16:12] Tandava Meanderdog says in telepathy, Zoryana's s-still frequenting the Fortress, huh?
[16:12] Serania says, "Not too interested in drinkin' holy water.."
[16:13] Zayn says, "Quite young."
[16:13] Melionette Meandersong thinks, ".. I do not know, love."
[16:13] Zayn says, "Try it when you get a few years in you."
[16:13] Tandava Meanderdog says in telepathy, Mh? You s-said as much in the paper.
[16:13] Zayn says, "You can feel the burn as it washes away all of your sins."
[16:13] Serania smiles down at the tea. It has a nice fragrance. She takes a sip, grinning after.
(Serania)
[16:13] Melionette Meandersong sets her eyes shut for a cursory moment, flattening her lips into a line. Uncomfortably.
(Melionette Meandersong)
[16:13] Serania says, "I'm hopin' I won't have sins ta burn."
[16:13] Zayn says, "Better that way."
[16:13] Melionette Meandersong thinks, "I.. do not know."
[16:13] Zayn says, "I think I have none but hey..."
[16:14] Zayn says, "Better safe than sorry."
[16:14] Tandava Meanderdog bites her lip a little, eyes flicking over to regard the ghostly gal.
(Tandava Meanderdog)
[16:15] Tandava Meanderdog says in telepathy, What's.. wrong?
[16:18] A quietened, sweat-ladden stare meets her wife.
Everything still hurt.
The ookami is given a graceless look over.
There's some repression of something, Melionette's gaze stiffening into something unsure. Something that hides guilt. Something that hides a question. Something that hides something more.
Soon, she folds. She floats over wearily, and presents a blood-marred parchment, slid onto the table face down.
".. do not let him know."
(Melionette Meandersong)
[16:18] {Item} You drop Aline.
[16:23] Zayn glances over towards both Meanders, song and dog. He scratches his head, figuring that something is up. He rubs his eyes and squints at Melionette's ghastly form.
Was it him or was the woman even more hurt than before. He raised a finger to say something but managed to stop himself, feeling like he shouldn't impose for the moment. He reaches for the cup and sips more tea instead.
(Zayn)
[16:27] Melionette Meandersong is mostly robed, but what is visible on half-visible flesh are superficial scars from recent lacerations, and maybe even a dabble of dried blood she has failed to fleck away.
(Melionette Meandersong)
[16:33] Slightly wide-eyed and pale-faced, the dog's eyes flick over the Selkie with a hitched breath. That graceless, weary, hurting stare sends a chill running down Tandava's spine, and she sits up as stiffness gives way to concession.
A paper is held then in her right hand, and her thumb sends creases running through the bloodied parchment, held so tightly she might tear it from the grip alone.
"Oh, hon," she says with a pleading sigh, folding the note in half in her hand so as to hide its words. She reaches over the counter, pressing it back into Melionette's grasp.
"I'm sorry."
She sits back down, folding her hands in front of herself, now lost in thought.
(Tandava Meanderdog)
[16:34] Tandava Meanderdog says in telepathy, .. h-he forced you like that, hm? Ah.. I.. w-would like to tell Lady Lirael, at least.. assuage hers and Garrets' fears..
[16:36] Tandava Meanderdog says in telepathy, ... the delicacy of t-the situation isn't lost on me. I wish he hadn't realized h-he could manipulate in such a way, but, it was inevitable-
... do you w-want to talk about this in private, love? We haven't.. I haven't b-been able to ask you, earnestly, truthfully.. what they did to you in there.
[16:39] ".. 'tis quite alright."
With languor, she takes back the note in a deliberate, slow motion. It is folded, given an extra crease, before being slipped into her sash snugly. An eye drops to the ground, quietly.
For a time, she looks still, as though focusing on the sound of the ambience itself.
(Melionette Meandersong)
[16:40] Melionette Meandersong thinks, ".. 'tis fine, I do n-not wish to burden you so with my colourless stories. T-they did not do much. Thankfully little. Less t-than even when I find myself snared by Atrellya a few five thousand moons ago."
[16:40] Zayn decided he would ask about the new scars and wounds later. He was maybe actually able to read the room.. and now was not the time. Something was up and the atmosphere felt a bit like... sadness.
He feels his body stiffening a bit, but he still must drink the tea. It just feels so inviting.
Slowly he reaches, slowly he grasps the tea cup. The cup rattles as he takes it from it's small tray.
"........" He side eyes Serania, wondering why she wasn't drinking her tea. It seems the girl had fallen asleep. "Told ya these seats were comfy."
(Zayn)
[16:40] Serania jolts awake.
(Serania)
[16:40] Melionette Meandersong thinks, ".. as for telling them.."
[16:41] Serania says, "Jus' finished recoverin' from some nasty wounds..Still a bit tired, I reckon.."
[16:41] Melionette Meandersong thinks, "Y-you.. you can, but, I beg of you, do not let this g-get out to Lykon. I just want Aline to be okay. I-it's.. it's all I can do for him now."
[16:41] Serania says, "Thank ya kindly fer tha tea, miss Melionette."
[16:42] Melionette Meandersong says, ".. y-you are quite welcome, thank you for your modesty."
[16:42] Tandava Meanderdog says in telepathy, .. you aren't a b-burden- no more than anyone else t-that we all keep close to our chests. To love is t-to accept that.
[16:42] Zayn says, "Your teas are the best."
[16:43] Melionette Meandersong thinks, ".. y-you are not quite wrong in that regard."
[16:43] Zayn says, "Tied in first place with hibiscus tea."
[16:43] Melionette Meandersong says, "--. . . m-mmh? Is- is that true? Glad I am t-to know that, 'tis been many, many days since I b-began. I've been trying to perfect steeping it like a maiden of tea.."
[16:44] Tandava Meanderdog says, "Mh.. Tea maidens.."
[16:44] Melionette Meandersong says, "One day I wish to shock even a F-Faeborne with it's flavours.. in, uhm. The good flavour of surprise."
[16:44] Tandava Meanderdog widens in her expression a little at a revelation as she stares at the bar in front of her.
(Tandava Meanderdog)
[16:45] Tandava Meanderdog says in telepathy, ... tea maidens...
[16:45] Tandava Meanderdog says in telepathy, A-ah. Sorry. That slipped.
[16:45] Melionette Meandersong ponders, ".. Oh..?"
[16:46] Tandava Meanderdog says in telepathy, Just... you know, it w-was one of... Asena's.. hobbies.
[16:46] Zayn says, "I'm sure you'll be able to shock some Faeborne with this."
[16:46] Melionette Meandersong thinks, "..."
[16:46] Zayn says, "Go for an easier one first..."
[16:46] Tandava Meanderdog says in telepathy, ... please don't misconstrue, it just- intrusive thought.
[16:46] Zayn says, "Then work your way towards the harder ones."
[16:47] Melionette Meandersong thinks, "L-Lykon and the rest of that grotesque lot a-are trying to unseal her spirit from an urn the Demon K-King, or Sage, I can't quite remember, gave unto them."
[16:47] Tandava Meanderdog says in telepathy, ...
[16:47] Zayn says, "Then you'll get to Alissenia... the final boss."
[16:47] Tandava Meanderdog sucks in breath, then forces herself to choke into her sleeve.
(Tandava Meanderdog)
[16:47] Tandava Meanderdog says, "Ghk, hngh- urgh-"
[16:47] Zayn says, "An-"
[16:47] Zayn asks, "Er..?"
[16:48] Tandava Meanderdog says, "D-don't worry, I'm alright.."
[16:48] Melionette Meandersong shifts a still expression. She looks to her wife concerningly, but does not fail to respond to Zayn..
(Melionette Meandersong)
[16:48] Melionette Meandersong says, ".. m-my final boss is the King, a-- ah. Ah, dear, I.."
[16:48] Melionette Meandersong feebly brings a hand forward, setting it on the Ookami's shoulder.
(Melionette Meandersong)
[16:48] Tandava Meanderdog asks, ".. m-may I have a cup, love?"
[16:48] Zayn says, "Well I ah.."
[16:48] Melionette Meandersong says, ".. Of course."
[16:48] {Item} You drop Garden Tea.
[16:48] {Item} You picked up Aline. Dropped by Tandava Meanderdog..
[16:48] Tandava Meanderdog offers a smile to mask her evident horror-shock-terror-disgust-nausea.
(Tandava Meanderdog)
[16:49] Melionette Meandersong thinks, ".. I am sorry."
[16:49] Melionette Meandersong gently slips a cup of tea onto the countertop, a slight bit hot.
(Melionette Meandersong)
[16:49] Tandava Meanderdog says in telepathy, W-what for? I'm just.. it's a sore subject on both ends.
I once considered t-trying to free her from a fate like that. Whatever emerges f-from that urn, if they manage to free her.. it won't be anything like the girl I knew.
[16:50] Tandava Meanderdog says in telepathy, .. more like the monster t-that tortured you.
[16:50] Melionette Meandersong thinks, ".. mh, yes."
[16:51] Melionette Meandersong flinches faintly, an ear flicking off to the side.
(Melionette Meandersong)
[16:51] Tandava Meanderdog takes the tea in her mitts, tipping it back without regard for the burning heat. She sucks in air to cool her now-burnt mouth.
(Tandava Meanderdog)
[16:52] Melionette Meandersong thinks, "I c-cannot see it feasibly being prevented a-at current. If they truly m-manage to succeed the Godforsaken quest t'will b-be in every ounce of my interest to see her spirit sang to and appeased so that it may abscond."
[16:52] Tandava Meanderdog says in telepathy, .. it will b-be a Nethradin, love.
[16:53] Melionette Meandersong thinks, "I will still try."
[16:53] Melionette Meandersong thinks, ".. t-that is to say.."
[16:53] Melionette Meandersong thinks, "... ah, her soul..."
[16:53] Melionette Meandersong breathes a sigh to the air.
(Melionette Meandersong)
[16:54] Tandava Meanderdog says in telepathy, ...
Then.. s-so will I. As much as I hated her, for all t-that she did, for everything...
My last words to her- do you know what t-they were?
[16:54] Zayn says, "So uh..."
[16:54] Melionette Meandersong ponders, ".. n-no, what.. were they?"
[16:54] Zayn says, "I was telling Serania here about how this place is very inviting."
[16:54] Tandava Meanderdog says in telepathy, 'I hate you. I hate you so much. Just die.'
... I didn't mean it, b-but, I didn't have a chance to apologize.
[16:54] Zayn says, "Good atmosphere and all that."
[16:54] Zayn says, "Good beverages.."
[16:54] Zayn says, "Good place to sleep."
[16:54] Tandava Meanderdog says in telepathy, Sorry to reminisce on.. exes. It's n-not very.. considerate of you.
[16:54] Zayn says, "Good decoration."
[16:54] Tandava Meanderdog says in telepathy, For you, rather.
[16:54] Melionette Meandersong says, ".. a-apologies if I might be putting a dampener on such, I h-have felt a bit sickly as of late. Glad I am this little establishment h-has provided some positive recourse."
[16:54] Tandava Meanderdog takes another scalding sip.
(Tandava Meanderdog)
[16:55] Zayn says, "Not to worry and uh..."
[16:55] Melionette Meandersong thinks, ".. It's- it's quite okay. It's quite alright. I.. I am sorry, Tanny. I truly am."
[16:56] Tandava Meanderdog says in telepathy, I.. I'm s-sorry I can't... comfort you better.
[16:57] Melionette Meandersong thinks, ".. I will be quite alright."
[17:00] Melionette Meandersong thinks, "T-this head and heart have dealt with much more voracious storms, y-you might be relieved to know. I will endure the baleful winds a-and reemerge unscathed as I ever have."
[17:00] Melionette Meandersong thinks, ".. yes, as I ever have.."
[17:00] Tandava Meanderdog says in telepathy, We'll lick t-the wounds together, mhm? .. Oceiros will b-be avenged, and Aline will see redemption. Already is s-she working to save her soul, with the Oracle's help...
[17:01] Melionette Meandersong ponders, ".. with.. the.. Oracle -- i-is she..?"
[17:02] Tandava Meanderdog says in telepathy, She's n-not captured, not safe from Lykon's grasp- but when left to her own devices, she is ever conspiring against him.
[17:03] Melionette Meandersong thinks, "I see. I am glad for that.."
[17:03] Zayn got up and took a deep breath. "... Listen, if you girls ever want to talk about anything... I'm there if needed. Just like how Melionette patched me up and introduced me to black tea in my hour of need."
He raises a finger up. "And if you ever have a problem that you're willing to share... I'll do my best to help you getting rid of that. I mean if it's a fight and you lost... I'm probably getting beat up too..." he sits back down and shakes his head. "I'm always losing fights..." a shake of the head as the cup is about to reach his lips. For a brief moment he wished the tea was alcohol.
"Well, I'll... at least listen to your problems if you have any, and maybe take a beating in your place if required." he eyed Melionette and then Tandava. "Just saying I'll be willing to help if needed." His gaze returns to Melionette. "You said once that friends sticks together. I'm making myself readily available."
Zayn salutes and turns his attention back to his tea.
(Zayn)
[17:05] Tandava Meanderdog says in telepathy, ... I'm s-still glad you're safe.
[17:08] Serania takes a sip of her..Now much cooler tea. It's still good.
(Serania)
[17:14] There's a look that shifts away from Tandava, delivered unto Zayn with mellowed concern. For himself, borne of her own words -- she truly was putting a dampener on the atmosphere, wasn't she..?
And yet-
Borne from his own words is a smile, blooming on her features. It is a weak one, that seems to fight against a current of troubled thoughts all the same, but it is donned irregardless, to fight against sorrow itself.
".. I deliver unto you due thanks; y-your words of well-meaning alone are a song and balm to this heart," She expresses softly, placing a hand against her chest, "My ear is ever open to you all the same. T'would be most amiss of me if I did not repay such an unconditional favour. Y-you are a kind man.
Thank you."
She stoops herself low, bowing gently, before rising back up once more.
".. I m-may venture outdoors now to savour a bit of the morning air. I pray that is quite alright."
(Melionette Meandersong)
[17:21] Zayn tips his head towards Melionette, a faint smile forming on his lips. "And you're a good woman. Don't worry about putting a dampener on anything, friends do help each other. We're there to share moments of joy and sadness alike. That said I'm... feeling a bit tired right now and this seat is just..." A yawn is stifled.
"... perfect." a hand reaches to move the cup a bit to the side and Zayn lays his head against the counter, shutting his eyes for a moment.
(Zayn)
[17:21] Having gradually slouched back down into her seat, Tandava's head gently twists to watch Zayn as he speaks up, and similar to her spouse, she adorns a soft smile toward him.
When Melionette professes a desire to go outside, she rises from her seat a little eagerly- before hesitantly re-seating herself, and more politely asking, "- Would y-you like company?"
(Tandava Meanderdog)
[17:23] Melionette Meandersong says, ".. you may accompany me, dear."
[17:23] Melionette Meandersong says, "Adell aul eruna."
[17:23] Tandava Meanderdog says, "R-rest well, friend."
[17:23] Melionette Meandersong says, "Indeed."
[17:29] Nylion watches Sunsets at work, offering little interruption. They grin ever-slightly, a soft kind of thing that sneaks up their features as they consider the exchange between Vanitas and Sunsets. Doubtlessly Vanitas would be good as new without much more rest, and doubtlessly he would be free to go get himself hurt again -
or get even.
The Royal Guard offers no suggestion as to which might be wiser, but some consider vengeance better than suffering.
"An arrest is often the beginning to an ending. It sounds as though you are quite tired of the story before you, and I cannot blame you one bit.
Because it is a bitter thing, if there were no more pages written."
They perhaps consider waxing poetic some few moments longer, but. . . They pause, then shift tone to something more sober. "I haven't seen him today. Not holding court from the Runeoak, at the very least.
You may be able to fetch him with a courier, but I suppose you'd know better than me where he might be resting or working."
(Nylion Alabaster)
[17:29] Vanitas Caewynn says, "Ah! .. You're right, how could I not think of a courier."
[17:29] Vanitas Caewynn says, "One moment."
[17:30] Melionette Meandersong quietly floats nearby in a warbly manner, only a note or two clammy. She quietly takes in a half-mangled letter.
(Melionette Meandersong)
[17:30] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "...it is a lot easier to call for an arrest and ban. They will be cocky, defiant to such an order."
[17:31] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "Even so, I ran into Bayle while with Tandava. He hadn't the courage to say even breathe in the moment."
[17:31] Vanitas Caewynn says, "For Dragons, they sure do enjoy picking on people who are alone."
[17:32] Tandava Meanderdog says, ".. ah. Bayle..."
[17:32] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "Though, to answer your question: I have not seen him."
[17:32] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "I have been here for most of the day or out picking flowers."
[17:32] Melionette Meandersong asks, ".. my dear, can you sunder this piece of parchment?"
[17:32] Tandava Meanderdog says, "F-from what I know, Cecil is petty at worst. A good man. Bayle... just likes fighting. To a fault."
[17:32] Tandava Meanderdog asks, "Mh?"
[17:33] Vanitas Caewynn says, "And like a dog, he should be put down."
[17:33] Melionette Meandersong hands Tandava a suspiciously half-mauled piece of paper.
(Melionette Meandersong)
[17:33] Vanitas Caewynn continues to write his letter.
(Vanitas Caewynn)
[17:33] {Item} You drop Melione Hiraeth's Letter To Melionette Meandersong, 2127.
[17:33] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "Bayle assaulted Alissenia and they wish to hunt the Lumin King."
[17:33] Tandava Meanderdog says, "..."
[17:33] Vanitas Caewynn says, "And now, me."
[17:33] Nylion Alabaster says, "It is death, then."
[17:33] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "Then Vanitas, correct. Ganging up on him."
[17:33] Melionette Meandersong says, "..."
[17:34] Nylion Alabaster speaks those words softly, as though referring to a squirrel in the distance who might be startled by them.
(Nylion Alabaster)
[17:34] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "If you see them, do bring them in. I asked nicely, to which his crime would have been paid in a lumpsome of coin."
[17:34] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "He ignored my summons."
[17:34] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "So he will be brought in through more direct means."
[17:34] Tandava Meanderdog says, "He'll f-find his consequences soon enough. Mh."
[17:34] Tandava Meanderdog stares at the page.
(Tandava Meanderdog)
[17:34] Melionette Meandersong says, "... a risk to our peoples indeed. T-to think he would stoop to announcing the hunt of even His Majesty.."
[17:34] Melionette Meandersong says, "Ah.."
[17:34] Tandava Meanderdog whispers: The audacity..
[17:34] Tandava Meanderdog whispers: I s-should show this to Lazarus, honestly. He'll get a good laugh.
[17:34] Melionette Meandersong whispers: .. You may.
[17:34] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "I had thought Vanitas informed you of that hunt. He has been in charge of it."
[17:34] Tandava Meanderdog whispers: She doesn't exactly make a good case for herself.
[17:34] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "Either way..."
[17:35] Melionette Meandersong says, "Mmh, the ongoing one of Bayle..? Yes.."
[17:35] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "Correct."
[17:35] Melionette Meandersong says, "I cannot a-assist in any manner, His Majesty has put me under house arrest."
[17:35] Vanitas Caewynn says, "I will say, he's certainly better than the Dinosaur. A fierce combatant."
[17:36] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "Mh."
[17:36] Tandava Meanderdog says, "- you are n-not participating in this hunt, Meli."
[17:36] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "The Tyrann tried to chase me down earlier."
[17:36] Tandava Meanderdog huffs.
(Tandava Meanderdog)
[17:36] Melionette Meandersong says, "..."
[17:36] Tandava Meanderdog says, "Cecil l-likes you, but I don't trust Bayle."
[17:36] Tandava Meanderdog says, "No.. not at all."
[17:37] Melionette Meandersong strains to keep an impassive expression, closing her eyes shut. Her forehead wrinkles.
(Melionette Meandersong)
[17:37] Nylion Alabaster says, "The wilds are vicious things filled with vicious things."
[17:38] Nylion Alabaster says, "If it were slightly easier to strike them down then the world may be quite the more pleasant place."
[17:38] Sunsets over Moonlight asks, "But- are you alright, Melionette?"
[17:38] Sunsets over Moonlight asks, "I read the most recent issue... when were you captured...?"
[17:38] Sunsets over Moonlight frowns a bit.
(Sunsets over Moonlight)
[17:38] Tandava Meanderdog says, "Y-you.."
[17:38] Tandava Meanderdog says, "Oh.."
[17:38] Melionette Meandersong says, ".. y-yes, Heir Sunsets. I s-served a brief stay in Atrellya. They were discourteous."
[17:39] Tandava Meanderdog says, "... it w-was a quick affair. The King and I struck a deal for her release."
[17:39] Sunsets over Moonlight asks, "When was this?"
[17:39] Melionette Meandersong says, "T-the other month."
[17:39] Nylion Alabaster says, "I read your article. Thank you once more for placing the truth of the world where it can be easily seen."
[17:40] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "I am thankful you are safe..."
[17:40] Melionette Meandersong says, ".. t-t'was a folly of my own making and it is doubtless t-that I have burdened His Majesty and my love by doing so. I a-am regretful but even moreso thankful. I will not go outside for a long while."
[17:40] Melionette Meandersong says, "And.."
[17:40] Melionette Meandersong stares at Nylion for three seconds too long.
(Melionette Meandersong)
[17:40] Melionette Meandersong says, ".. y-you are welcome."
[17:40] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "It is rather comfortable within the realm."
[17:41] Sunsets over Moonlight similarly is under a self-imposed, anxiety riddled restriction. Sometimes lifted, other times not.
(Sunsets over Moonlight)
[17:41] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "Let's get you dealt with, Nylion."
[17:41] Melionette Meandersong says, "Yes, 'tis quite.. blissful. I do love it so. 'T-Tis one of the few places that feel pure."
[17:41] Nylion Alabaster made a promise to Sunsets that they would not leave and go get hurt without getting medical treatment. They are homebound, until -
(Nylion Alabaster)
[17:41] Tandava Meanderdog whispers: Ooh. I s-should.. I...
[17:41] Nylion Alabaster hops up!
(Nylion Alabaster)
[17:42] Nylion Alabaster says, "I am to be disciplined, everyone."
[17:42] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "I heard there is a competing paper from central Meranthe."
[17:42] Nylion Alabaster says, "For my crime of not having sought medical attention sooner..."
[17:42] Melionette Meandersong says, ".. oh dear? L-Lora meni'al."
[17:42] Nylion Alabaster says, "Sunsets will skin me alive before the day is done."
[17:42] Tandava Meanderdog says, "Competing? It's a propaganda outlet."
[17:42] Tandava Meanderdog says, "N-nothing even remotely as good as her work."
[17:42] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "Not that it is a competition."
[17:42] Tandava Meanderdog says, "Full of garbage.. ugh..."
[17:42] Tandava Meanderdog says, ".. s-sorry."
[17:43] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "But others without taste might think it so."
[17:43] Melionette Meandersong gives the horizon a long, long stare. She looks vacant for a few moments.
(Melionette Meandersong)
[17:43] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "I should skin you, Nylion."
[17:43] Tandava Meanderdog says, "..."
[17:44] Nylion Alabaster says, "So long as you ensure it grows back, you can keep a spare copy of my face in a chest beneath your floor or something like that, I wouldn't mind. It'll scare someone, two hundred years from now."
[17:44] Melionette Meandersong thinks, ".. if I were stronger, oh if I were stronger.. what a basic wish."
[17:44] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "They've gone with this since Bronch threatened the realm."
[17:44] Nylion Alabaster says, "I wanted to see if it would just go away."
[17:44] Tandava Meanderdog asks, "G-gods, really?"
[17:44] Tandava Meanderdog says, "What the hel, man.."
[17:45] Nylion Alabaster says, "Well, every time that I tried to say I needed medical assistance I miscommunicated and people thought I was just being moody."
[17:45] Nylion Alabaster says, "Now, to be fair I was in fact moody."
[17:45] Nylion Alabaster says, "But I was magically moody. Depressively damaged. Supremely silly."
[17:46] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "Melionette, I can look at you, too."
[17:46] Melionette Meandersong says, "M-may you recover well and soon from your moody malaise, Nylion--. . ah.."
[17:46] Tandava Meanderdog says, "Go on, love. I've g-got to go.. see Lazzy, again..."
[17:46] Melionette Meandersong says, ".. I do not w-wish to burden you so, I am sure I will recover in time."
[17:46] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "Don't speak nonsense."
[17:46] Tandava Meanderdog narrows her eyes at Melionette.
(Tandava Meanderdog)
[17:46] Tandava Meanderdog says, ".. Aline g-gave you that kit for a reason."
[17:46] Melionette Meandersong says, "..."
[17:46] Melionette Meandersong says, ".. s- sorry, yes."
[17:46] Tandava Meanderdog says, "Don't waste w-what kindness she spared you already."
[17:46] Melionette Meandersong says, "Sorry, sorry, yes.."
[17:46] Tandava Meanderdog sneaks forward, and casts her arms around Melionette.
(Tandava Meanderdog)
[17:46] Nylion Alabaster says, "I think that I have gone long enough with the spiritual effects that they have become part of my normal."
[17:46] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "This is my duty to you all. You are no burden in the slightest."
[17:47] Tandava Meanderdog whispers: For your own sake.. w-whatever a burden you might be, everyone's been in the same position.
[17:47] Nylion Alabaster says, "Quite frankly, life would be significantly less worth living without Melionette in the world."
[17:47] Melionette Meandersong releases a misty breath, her shoulders slackening, and tensing again. She looks to ease away and follow Sunsets- but not without a quiet word.
(Melionette Meandersong)
[17:48] Melionette Meandersong whispers: .. I am sorry.
[17:48] Tandava Meanderdog says in telepathy, ... p-please don't think I'm upset at you..
[17:48] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "We'll be in the library then."
[17:48] Nylion Alabaster says, "We're making a party of it."
[17:48] Tandava Meanderdog says, "I'll return s-soon.. to check up on things, ah.."
[18:02] Leading both into the library's secret nook, they stop short of two fountains flowing within. Standing before the pools of water, they utilize one of empty tables as a surface to sort through.
"Welcome to the Goldenleaf Library." They introduce the space to Nylion. "I manage and curate it. Perhaps later you can browse the shelves. For now?" Fixed gems clink between their sentences. "I would like for each of you to pick a pool to get comfortable in."
Be it fully clothed or just undressing armor or other heavier garments. "I do not mean to badger you about what happened. I... can only imagine how horrific it might have been. I hope that a pleasant soak might be more calming than sitting in the clinic once more."
The water sits between cold and room temperature. Luckily for both, their skills in aquamancy might serve as a boon. Though surely such magi do still feel the chill of cold waters?
As they prepare themselves, the Luminary continues their own task with the bits and bobs within the advanced trauma kit.
(Sunsets over Moonlight)
[18:04] {Item} You picked up Rowboat. Dropped by Sunsets over Moonlight..
[18:04] {Item} You drop Rowboat.
[18:09] Nylion coquettishly rolls their eyes as Sunsets implies that they might pick up one of the poet's many books and peruse them. Like they would ever enjoy reading something that Sunsets has written. Hah. Only a-
"... Thank you. Some few minutes from now, yes? I do hope that we won't be distracted for all too long."
Hop!
They hop into one of the chilly pools with easy abandon. They tumble into the hop, offering themselves no opportunity to acclimate to the alleged discomfort or to remove any encumbering materials.
Nylion plasters themself to the floor of the pool for a few moments, submerged and gradually saturated. If they were afforded even a couple of inches of water, perhaps they could have drowned. But with this very much more water than that, they rise to sit, dripping with excess and shenaniganry.
"... how do you ward the books against the moisture? I feel like this would absolutely ruin them in just a few months, let alone howevermany years you've been employing these little bits of literature as public servants."
Nylion shows no signs of discomfort, even if it exists. They have done worse on purpose, and even worse than that on accident.
(Nylion Alabaster)
[18:11] Tiredly, Melionette follows in tow. Feet rescind back to the floor, and she patters behind. A small bundled ball of blue, etheric light seats itself on her shoulder, singing a soft tune.
With an air of sombreness, she gives the library a glance. Annals of knowledge galore, where she oft would roam with glee. Maybe it's her mood, maybe it's something else, but it isn't quite doing it for her as it usually does.
From her satchel, a kit finds itself drawn from it's weathered fabric. She sets it onto the table with a deliberate, slow motion. A pause is taken to stare at her right arm and all it's nature-like particulars.
"..."
If she had lost her arm, how worse would she have felt?
A cursory thought sings, but she crushes it. As does a ping from her lyre. Without further delay, she submerges herself with familiarity. And a want to not delay. Not for her own convenience, but the Heirs.
(Melionette Meandersong)
[18:11] {Item} You drop Enhanced Trauma Kit.
[18:41] Flop and sink. Melionette's mood dampened while Nylion exudes his own essence.
"Proper ventilation and potted azilaena flowers on the shelves." The spring flower is welcomed in this autumn space. Its tendency to absorb moisture handy when keeping the room dry. Crisp air meets all, not anything humid. Else the space would be ruined and reading atmosphere slowly uncomfortable.
For visitors and also practicality. Moldy books serve no one well. "You both have similar afflictions. Touched by varying degrees of death from varying sources. My approach will be similar." The Luminary exhales, having never tended to two patients at once like this. Flowers follow suit- their petals at the very least, clustered into four or five per. Some easily recognizable, others not.
Four perdegrine tuffs, four azilaena petals, four sanisktri and four marignolia petals, scattered into each pool. The temple's location, proximity to the Mother Goddess' aether and spanning leylines beneath the district make its waters above average.
Magical and soothing in quality, yet nothing so grand as outright healing. Thus the petals come in, guiding the natural turn of the world through each season they represent.
"Dying is terrifying," they start, watching the petals bob on ripples that the water's flow creates. Each eventually find itself near or away from either Nylion or Melionette. "I think being unafraid of death is inhumane. Its fear is what makes living far more... potent. Embracing death and accepting it are different. I don't think people should embrace the end's arrival."
"...there is so much going on right now to look forward to dying."
Sunsets over Moonlight sits on their legs in the space between each pool of water. Hands feel the golden blades of grass beneath, digits pushing in and between. They exhale, aware, wholly, of certain patches of land miles away, of each person and their mana, of the anomalies within.
"Anticipating it disrupts the cycle. Making you, internally, jump around unnecessarily. Skipping to the end then returning immediately, if that makes sense? Not so much in harmony... I am not fond of Mortyl, in truth."
Sighing, they find a suitable point between both. "Share, even if it is small, what you are most fond of now. What about living feels worthwhile?" Their sigh morphs into a determined exhale. "The disruption in your internal perception, spiritual, corrected upon its declaration," and the Luminary's skilled intervention.
(Sunsets over Moonlight)
[19:09] Nylion considers the flowers indeed, their practicality aboundingly obvious as soon as Sunsets describes it. Perhaps they feel a bit silly for not having noted that it is rather comfortable in this library, and yet...
they are covered in water, and they can be forgiven for not noticing how un-damp the air may very well have been.
The touch of death upon Nylion's form is a very particular incarnation, born of the icy waters of the Bridge to Babylon and all that that meant. It is not an entirely intuitive thing, its meaning and purpose far diverged from the simple duty that encouraged Nylion to stand in the way of Bronach's bitter wrath.
It is twisted, still, by a distant echo of what had been Bronach's sorrow. Perhaps the memories of the road that she walked had been intended to evoke sympathy in the minds and hearts of those who walked through that door for one reason or the next, and yet as they dwell within Nylion's heart in some dilute capacity, there exists little tie to Medusa's plight.
The overwhelming sorrow that had overtaken Nylion passed long ago, and in its place has remained a hole filled by devotion and sacrifice. Indeed they rebuke the call of death, owing a partial victory to one choice or another made in solitude, made far from the eyes of any other.
Perhaps in this place that partial victory can be complete.
The Faeborne sits still, wet, and only a little miserable in the center of the pool. Their energy spills out to connect to each of the flowers, to each and every ripple, to the life and breath of those who inhabit the room. As the Lumin King nigh-silently enters Nylion cannot help but notice him; surely His Highness's presence alters the Faeborne's capacity for sincere intimacy in regards to what has made life worth living in this interim.
Nylion bears only a tiny smile. They look to Sunsets, gently shrugging their shoulders and splashing water about with the abrupt withdrawal of the motion.
"I think it's been as simple as discovering that I am capable of love. Not that silly, fragile little feeling that I thought existed in the hole in my heart, that weak and pathetic dedication to something that barely existed, but this-
This urge to throw myself off a cliff and take flight rather than plummet to my death, knowing that there are people who would rather like to witness it. Yes, I think that is close enough to an answer."
Nylion puts on a pseudoacademic tone, referencing the idea as though it were this distant phenomenon rather than the ebb and flow of their spirit. Their eyes glimmer with its half-truths, but their waters brim with only what sincerities flicker beneath their flesh.
They radiate warmth, belonging, yearning, ambition - and paranoia, aggression, protection, unease. Their magic rings taut, ready to snap and strike at a moment's notice. They blink slowly, like a scheming housecat spying a glass of water on a windowsill.
"It's been wonderful. I look forward to every sunrise."
(Nylion Alabaster)
[19:16] Whyever does she glower? It is an inward feeling but pricks at the outward face of her expression all the same. Submerged in those waters she cannot quite help but dip her head halfly beneath it, as though to run for cover.
It is not to say the water does not prove a balm for nerves and heart alike. Her posture slackens and the softening of her brows gives way to quiet introspection. She isn't quite there - until she is. She turns up her eye to look toward the Heir, who speaks.
Brows quietly furrow, gaze drifting to the rippling water. Lost in a moment of ponder, her unseen hands lock.
It feels like a gentle scolding, even if it is not intentional. That eye shifts uncomfortably to her reflection still, shoulders slumping low. Three notes of thought are undertaken - before her eye flickers open, eyelid aflutter.
It dampens to a half-lidded stare,
And a pushed out warbly, wibbly word: "I d-do not want to die."
It doesn't quite have resonance with the words delivered, but to her she feels as though it is important to say. A hand presses to her chest flatly, fingers gently tracing the edges of petals unsee. What does she live for? And in life, what is she most fond of?
A few notes of silence punctuate some degree of trepidation.
But at some point, she speaks.
There is a small, misty exhalation: ".. 'tis oft I overlook the value of simple things. I c-cherish family, friends- stories, the s-satisfaction in my little steps perfecting tea, the s-shared song in the morn oft s-sung in Nereides, kind words I feel I may n-never be able to repay in full..
.. small happinesses, and k-knowing I have tried. E-each and every moment holds some morsel or mountain of preciousness." She duly confesses -- albeit with a shrunken voice.
".. e-even in quietness. Even in storm. I do not want these things to be lost."
An eye quietly watches the ebb and flow of water.
(Melionette Meandersong)
[19:17] {Item} You picked up Elzara Field Cloak. Dropped by Camino de Caewynn..
[19:42] Light in the dark, rising for every fall. Not so much looked upon as duality, but turning gracefully into the other, oft split into necessary phases of transition. All things alive will die, but before they do, they live. All parts not requiring so much love. Acknowledge and despised. Respected and loathed.
Living is:
a lot of things. Simple mostly. Waking up in the morning, bathing, eating, working, chatting, sleeping. It's seeing family, falling in love, feeling. It's writing, drawing, singing, dancing. It's getting hurt, hunting, plotting. It's picking a mushroom out of the ground and rushing to the clinic because it turned out to be poisonous. It's getting caught doing something you weren't supposed to.
It's getting scolded, walking in shame, hugging, planning, research it-
is beautiful and cruel. Sometimes fake, like an unreal dream dreamt lucid and fluid.
Sunsets over Moonlight listens, smiling small asthey stare into the grass, watching how the blades push aside slender digits. Eyes rest now, yet the room does not. Suspended in autumn, in constant transition, both too will move from this place in life. A faux gentle breeze of air ripples across the waters as the Luminary prepares to speak:
"Death's reminder noted duly- touching land and sea and all else in between. Need stalk no more outside the windows during hours of tea, hours of rest, hours of being. Its presence unmaking and altering, a constant bump to the turn's push.
...acknowledged, when the turn reaches its end. Yet turn it will till then. As tides push and pull, the ebb constant and without interruption. Turn then, even under the strength of moonlight or wane beneath noon's shine.
So, humble, 'neath Your guide will their tides be as intended. Corrected, shirking death's distance. Let it stalk no more behind, creep no longer behind life's greatest and smallest of joys."
The Luminary's poetic woven prayer causes each scattered seasonal petal to shine golden. Holy ether spreads into the waters. Specifically chosen and not out of anything humorous. Easily does it seep through the pores, into the circuitry and spreading evenly with ease.
Digits do curl, practically exhausted yet spending themself and all that's left if only for their people. Before death, too, conquered for each and for them. Bold before it, the spinning, chaotic aether throughout Melionette brought to an expected, easily managed cycle. Its foils quelled before the Luminary's holy ether. Soothed, in ways, so its incessant, endless cycle becomes far less chaotic and demanding.
And death's challenger, they who stood so bold before it and suffered. Touched at Babylon's bridge, that weighty sorrow upon their very being lifted, brightened. Nature honed from its once moody, depressive, dejection. It's beautiful, is it not?
Living.
Hands tremble, focusing simultaneously on both. Healing Vanitas, exorcising Yugram they-
Fall forward while sat on the grass, practically face planting.
(Sunsets over Moonlight)
[20:00] It is very awkward timing, for Sunsets to collapse so inconveniently in the middle of what had been a wonderful prayer. And yet it is a failure not of personage but of simple capacity.
They are but one person. Eyes had closed easily, and as the pressure in the room shifts they open. Nylion's magic slithers across Sunsets over Moonlight, finding weakness in every seam that it will, fueling lingering glimmers of failure and transmuting them into the sparks of recovery. The Faeborne rises in a swift, smooth motion which does not easily respect the laws of weight and hesitation. They step through the water, causing neither ripples nor splashes as they hold its motion in their grasp. They step up and out, the ripples and splashes taking shape as they exit the pool and its influences, half-kneeling before Sunsets over Moonlight and then awkwardly manhandling them up as though raising a much smaller version of the same individual.
Their hands gently press in at the royal author's ribs.
"Really, maybe you should be a little less benevolent to those who deserve it of you," they whisper, then slowly attempt to rise from that kneeling position and raise Sunsets with them.
Does the Heir find the strength to stand as Nylion offers it freely, or must they be carried to a place of rest?
"If you keep running empty on purpose, then you'll have no ground at all to stand on, to convince me to do otherwise. This is mildly irresponsible, even if it is severely helpful."
If Melionette needs be shifted here or there, forced away from drowning to death (does her species breathe water? nylion has no idea), most assuredly the Faeborne takes a moment to push her to and fro with the weight of her watery grave.
(Nylion Alabaster)
[20:18] A respectfully silent observer towards the rite of healing being performed. Hands laid over one another at his front, watching and perhaps waiting - if so for no purpose so urgent as to interrupt matters of Faith and the spiritual well-being of those bathed in its literal waters in this case.
Were his presence not so eminent for who he has and how spectacularly he dresses, his discretion could've seen him blend right into the wall.
Until.
It is too much for Sunsets over Moonlight, their ambition of healing not one, but two patients all at once from their own vessel of sanctity and well of exorcistic mana called upon and wielded in hand. They fall forwards.
That much suffices to see him step forward.
He is, true enough to his role, much more authoritative in his than Nylion's own offer of assistance. Not simply supporting them and waiting for further instruction, he takes their handand pulls them over to one of the nearby chairs and sets them right down. A slow flourish of the hand fanning a gentle circuit of a cool, enchanted air.
Whilst the other makes a sleight reach and finds a golden petal pinched between two fingers. Held before them as he kneels down to their level:
"Who shall soften our fall, when the day's passing sees us so spent?
Lay us softly upon the grass, and show us the leave rustling overhead in a sacred wind?
Held in a petal, I know this answer. Don't you?"
That petal goes gently nestled into their palm without any further ask of their own strength to clutch it. Its essence turning and turning as it rest against the skin, echoing the motions of the cycle as whole in its own microcosm. Soothing, one could imagine.
He seems unconcerned about Melionette, not unfamiliar with the nature of Selkie compared to the rest of Sirenia, but very familiar. It was true they hadn't the gills to breathe water as the Merfolk and Anguill - but much as the various creatures their spirits and by extension bodies resembled, they possessed all the right unconscious instincts and impressive breath capacity to leave her in little danger of suddenly turning the wrong way and drowning in her sleep so unceremoniously.
Though he does not stop Nylion from settling their own worry by moving her fully out of the water.
(Camino de Caewynn)
[20:35] Embarrassingly, the spent Faeborne finds themself in an unintended position. If only they could do everything in the world and require no such assistance. En route of such pursuit, they drain themself consistently and end up where they wanted to avoid regardless.
Crash.
Into the grass. Not so much as unconscious, but too spent spiritually that it affects them physically. Nylion eventually lifts them, stepping out of the proverbial and literal pool of healing waters and supporting them at a kneel.
"-ah. Non...sense." Their voice lifts, a tad woozy compared to how measured and small they speak their prayers. Body under assault from such hefty exertion, screaming at them to rest.
Without Nylion's assistance, they would have kept on the grass until morning, rising like awakening flowers at sunrise. Luckily, they assist the spent Faeborne in standing, the energies filling much needed gaps within their own natural reservoir, its unseen tank practically empty.
"Are you okay?" Their head tilts, then hangs a bit more than intended, looking at Nylion if only to gauge how their magics have settled.
Even if they tried to stand, the decision makes itself for them once the Lumin King, who they did not notice enter oddly enough, arrives and takes their hand, whisking the wobbling younger Faeborne to a chair where they can better replenish their energy.
Petal eased into barely closing petals, its shimmering hue noted immediately. He speaks a prayer in questions, who? Of course they know the answer. Plain in their heart and obvious.
Sunsets over Moonlight sinks into the chair, petal clutched soon after. "...She, of course. Our push forward and blanket once falling back." Everything. Their eyes shut, deep exhale doing best to calm the rapid beat of their heart as their body tries to make up for such a sudden deficiency in mana in tandem to the Lumin King's own efforts.
Quicker than had he not. "...thank you." they breathe out, steady, bearings found.
(Sunsets over Moonlight)
[20:36] Camino de Caewynn says, "That is right."
[20:36] Camino de Caewynn says, "You are welcome."
[20:49] Camino steals Sunsets, violating what little sovereignty either Nylion or Sunsets believes that they might have had.
The Royal Guard surrenders the Heir to the Lumin King, though not without a complex expression somewhere between a sneer and a smile. It is a most dubious and yet most humorous kind of thing, both delighted and flabbergasted beyond any sense of repair or reproach.
Wordlessly they lament that they have been rendered victim to Camino de Caewynn's paternal, pastoral guidance.
"I believe I must follow your example next time, and simply place them within the chair. But today..." Nylion concedes, closing their eyes and dipping their head to Camino and Sunsets.
The world outside this room may well be aflame, and in this very place do they consign it all if only to bask in the silliness of the Luminary's overexertion and gentle religious reinforcement.
Nylion lowers upturned palms to either side, gradually spreading them.
What spiritual tethers they had constructed remain, and energy still flows to Sunsets over Moonlight. They step toward the southern wall, then lower into a kneel, facing Sunsets and Camino with a light smile on their features.
"I think I am very happy, today. I imagine that tomorrow, I will find some way to question if that needs remain true. But in the time being, I have reason to believe that what enemies exist are tearing themselves to pieces.
They have yet to take too much from us." Nylion pauses, then reaches back to knock their knuckles against the wall. "I will endeavor to extract a toll from them yet."
(Nylion Alabaster)
[20:52] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "Hrmm..."
[20:52] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "I am glad you're happy today."
[20:52] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "Truly..."
[20:53] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "There is so much to be happy about."
[20:53] Sunsets over Moonlight lets their gaze linger on the Lumin King for a time as they hold a petal of the same namesake.
(Sunsets over Moonlight)
[20:54] Sunsets over Moonlight asks, "I do not imagine you've come here to peruse the shelves? Though that'd make me happy if you did. It is nice to see you. Are you well?"
[20:54] Nylion Alabaster says, "Like Melionette being on house arrest."
[20:54] Nylion Alabaster says, "That is something to be happy about, in this case."
[20:55] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "-yes that makes me happy that she is unlikely to get hurt in the near future..."
[20:55] Camino de Caewynn says, "That is precisely why it has been done."
[20:55] Sunsets over Moonlight asks, "Oh. Ah. Did Vanitas tell you he was attacked by the Marquine brothers?"
[20:56] Camino de Caewynn says, "He sent a letter to me, yes."
[20:56] Nylion Alabaster says, "I don't really understand their intentions."
[20:57] Nylion Alabaster says, "Obviously they are associates of Midpoint and by extension the coven dwelling beneath the thin veneer of its capitalist ambitions, but..."
[20:58] Nylion Alabaster says, "Well, like I said, I just don't really understand. I don't understand why -most- are anywhere near involved with that mess."
[20:58] Camino de Caewynn says, "They feel that they are exempt from our consequences because they are not citizens of our realm."
[20:58] Nylion Alabaster says, "It is difficult not to simply paint them with a brush of 'unsalvageable' and start cutting."
[20:58] Camino de Caewynn says, "By now, they must feel they have a righteous vengeance to deliver because whilst attempting to communicate that is not the case..."
[20:59] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "They did not want to accept my kind, far too generous offer. I've no intention to extend it beyond once... as a result, they need deal with His Majesty's... thinned, patience."
[20:59] Camino de Caewynn says, "I rather grievously injured one Bayle Marquine, for his refusal to submit to anything more delicate."
[20:59] Sunsets over Moonlight asks, "You did?"
[20:59] Camino de Caewynn says, "Cecil happened to come along to see it - and naturally I had to deal with him as well."
[20:59] Camino de Caewynn says, "I did, yes."
[21:00] Camino de Caewynn says, "He came throwing one of your letters at me, saying he was willing to talk."
[21:00] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "Hm... they must have taken that out on Vanitas then..."
[21:00] Camino de Caewynn says, "We spoke, it quickly proved pointless as he couldn't even admit he'd done wrong, let alone pay any restitution for it."
[21:00] Nylion Alabaster says, "I have spoken with each of them before."
[21:01] Nylion Alabaster says, "Cecil seems dedicated to some sort of individualist ideal of self-determinism."
[21:01] Nylion Alabaster says, "And Bayle is a hyper-aggressive idiot."
[21:01] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "He- yes..."
[21:01] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "...the boy is daft, to say the lest."
[21:01] Camino de Caewynn says, "That is an apt assessment."
[21:02] Nylion Alabaster says, "See."
[21:02] Nylion Alabaster says, "When I have asked for advice from more enlightened parties prior, I have received the advice that the correct answer is to 'kill the child'."
[21:03] Nylion Alabaster says, "And while that is not very nice, it is increasingly appreciable."
[21:04] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "Ah."
[21:04] Sunsets over Moonlight asks, "May I ask a question?"
[21:04] Camino de Caewynn says, "Cecil is far from a child. Bayle is young, but old enough to face the music of his own actions."
[21:04] Nylion Alabaster says, "They were children when I last spoke with them."
[21:04] Nylion Alabaster nods over at Sunsets, perhaps finding it impolite to offer them permission vocally.
(Nylion Alabaster)
[21:06] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "Largely unrelated... speaking about them only feels upsetting."
[21:06] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "Do you know anything about 'polymorphism'? I just discovered it today."
[21:07] Camino de Caewynn says, "I am familiar with the concept, it's nothing I could host a lecture on however."
[21:08] Nylion Alabaster asks, "Just based on the roots I'm assuming you mean some form of advanced shapeshifting?"
[21:08] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "I see. Someone shared to me that a Kasca is capable of it- but did not tell me which one."
[21:08] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "Oh, yes..."
[21:09] Nylion Alabaster says, "She turned me into a chicken."
[21:09] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "Learning of it is crucial for something I intend to pursue in greater complexity in the future-"
[21:09] Sunsets over Moonlight asks, "P-Pardon..?"
[21:10] Nylion Alabaster says, "We were having an exchange about our ideals and our dreams."
[21:10] Nylion Alabaster says, "And then she turned me into a chicken."
[21:10] Nylion Alabaster makes some little chicken-wing motions with their arms, demonstrating their true nature as defined by the person in question.
(Nylion Alabaster)
[21:10] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "That sounds horrifying actually..."
[21:11] Nylion Alabaster says, "It was lovely."
[21:11] Nylion Alabaster says, "I was so short, and I ate a worm after pecking through the dirt."
[21:11] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "Perhaps you are an outlier."
[21:11] Nylion Alabaster says, "Life was easy, for two minutes."
[21:11] Nylion Alabaster says, "Maybe you should try it out for yourself."
[21:12] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "Ah... no."
[21:13] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "I don't think I am capable of occupying a vessel other than my own."
[21:13] Sunsets over Moonlight asks, "What is the name of the person who did this?"
[21:17] Nylion considers that question for some few moments. They pause, thinking on the lengthy conversation and the supernatural discussion which had taken place between the two of them. The crystals, indeed, those bubble up through their thoughts, and perhaps the woman's colorful, primarily-pink visage.
"I had forgotten her name, and she addressed me as 'Nylion', so it was very much too awkward to ask what her name was. We had an entire little mutual spirit-journey and I told her that her dreams were hollow and that the end of the road to a better future will always be a sacrificial altar."
They lay these things on the metaphorical table matter-of-factly, speaking evenly. They are only slightly bashful about how inconvenient the namelessness may be.
(Nylion Alabaster)
[21:19] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "Huh..."
[21:19] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "Hm. I see. It matters little. I will figure out a way to attempt it myself."
[21:19] Nylion Alabaster idly scritches the left side of their nose.
(Nylion Alabaster)
[21:20] Nylion Alabaster says, "I'm the perfect experimental subject."
[21:20] Sunsets over Moonlight asks, "So willingly offering yourself to magics I've yet to even attempt?"
[21:21] Nylion Alabaster says, "If I did not trust you with my life, then I would be in very much the wrong business."
[21:21] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "Mmmnn..."
[21:21] Nylion Alabaster says, "If you explained to me your plan to excise one of my arms and replace it with a superior plant-arm, I would require only the slightest convincing, and mostly for academic interest."
[21:22] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "Tuh..."
[21:23] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "I suppose then I can share my thoughts."
[21:23] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "More rounded... mhh..."
[21:23] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "Yugram's arm frustrated me. The way it did not wish to comply so readily with my magics, even if it should."
[21:24] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "What initially motivated me some years ago was when an imperfect and its ilk attacked me."
[21:24] Nylion Alabaster asks, "Motivated you to do what, precisely?"
[21:25] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "Exorcism as I practice it."
[21:26] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "...I must admit that there was a small, selfish inkling."
[21:26] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "I remember that,"
[21:26] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "It and another tried chasing me down after I barely managed to defeat two."
[21:27] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "How the imperfect laughed at me. How it felt like it was a savior to those down on their luck who happened to fall under some trance by her boasting."
[21:27] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "I wanted nothing more than in that moment to knock it down from its elevation and reduce every accomplishment it made into nothing."
[21:27] Nylion Alabaster says, "You developed your holy magic as a counterbalance to something you disliked in the world around you, rather than as a supporting measure to what you appreciated."
[21:27] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "Nothing but a helpless honey badger devoid of magic and speech..."
[21:28] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "But in truth, it was to destroy an avenue of human despair, yes..."
[21:28] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "Polymorphism is key, along with figuring out how to completely disable a living creature's mana circuitry."
[21:29] Nylion Alabaster says, "... It is a curious method for that purpose. It is ironic that you seem to destroy through your protective intentions. It is like cutting mold from a garden."
[21:30] Nylion Alabaster says, "I know that practically, what you do is something other than destruction - it is separation, establishment of a boundary, it is eviction."
[21:30] Nylion Alabaster says, "But it is no less curious for the details of -how- it erects change."
[21:31] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "I don't... have the heart to kill something."
[21:33] Nylion Alabaster says, "... It does need done. But not by any particular hand."
[21:33] Nylion Alabaster says, "I am sorry I emphasize it so much of late."
[21:33] Sunsets over Moonlight rests their eyes for a moment.
(Sunsets over Moonlight)
[21:33] Sunsets over Moonlight asks, "Are you at all familiar with the Okabe?"
[21:33] Nylion Alabaster says, "When I am not thinking of more pleasant things I am thinking of how the corruption festers."
[21:33] Nylion Alabaster says, "The name is known to me. The details are not."
[21:35] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "The heir, who also served as Commander, died when committing an act of treason and trying to ascend the throne by force."
[21:36] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "One of his sons took that mantle years later, challenging the Lumin King once he was old enough."
[21:36] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "This son attacked me once, ushering some.. horrific curse over my mind. He tried to attack me before, but was promptly interrupted by another."
[21:37] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "So once he was lain low, the Lumin King said it was I who would decide would happen..."
[21:37] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "...I told him to admit his crimes and apologize to me."
[21:37] Nylion Alabaster says, "... and he refused."
[21:38] Nylion Alabaster asks, "Right?"
[21:38] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "He did not apologize, yes."
[21:39] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "He was then- practically... turned into a collection of ether and essence by the Lumin King's hand."
[21:39] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "I don't remember sleeping well after that."
[21:39] Nylion Alabaster asks, "... Would you prefer not to hear of it if it happens?"
[21:40] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "It will happen regardless. It's something I should prepare myself for."
[21:40] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "But, it is also why I've pushed for these alternative measures."
[21:41] Nylion Alabaster says, "Right. Alternative measures are absolutely necessary, because the default methods are absolutely depressing, dismal, and they inspire people to form cycles of revenge."
[21:42] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "Mh... Astra took his revenge. Rosemary- well..."
[21:42] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "Rosemary was relieved of Her blessings entirely..."
[21:42] Nylion Alabaster says, "Frankly, without such methods the world is dismal."
[21:42] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "It would be."
[21:42] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "Oh. Yes."
[21:42] Nylion Alabaster says, "You are a shining light in the center of an exception to darkness."
[21:43] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "A-Ah... no, no..."
[21:43] Sunsets over Moonlight exclaims, "You wanted to read some of my writing!"
[21:43] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "It is here."
[21:43] Sunsets over Moonlight gestures to the shelves.
(Sunsets over Moonlight)
[21:44] Nylion Alabaster says, "See, but now I don't have the pleasure of getting you to lead me to a specific piece, and then poring over it obsessively, and then delivering you my detailed review."
[21:44] Nylion Alabaster says, "It's your books on the shelf. Your soul before my eyes."
[21:44] Nylion Alabaster says, "The proper way for me to read such a thing is when you -aren't- looking."
[21:46] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "Lead you to one or not be present as you read? You must pick one..."
[21:46] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "I am unsure which one people enjoy most."
[21:46] Nylion Alabaster taps their fingers on their knees for a few moments. They hum.
(Nylion Alabaster)
[21:46] Sunsets over Moonlight exclaims, "You could go in order... or not!"
[21:47] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "I am not fond of my older work."
[21:47] Nylion Alabaster says, "You have forced my hand. I will let fate decide."
[21:47] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "Let it then."
[21:48] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "Maybe the Lumin King can give you a suggestion and I will cover my ears."
[21:50] Nylion slowly stands from their kneeling position, then sways side to side in preparation for,
a spin.
They spin past Sunsets over Moonlight, veritably dizzying their motions as they carefully dance a winding step across the central path of golden grass. They spin and they spin and they spin and they spin just once more, and as they approach a bookshelf they reach out and suddenly halt all their spinning to remove,
The Temptations of Despair. 1.1st Edition by Svengalf Sandsker.
"Now, that just isn't correct."
They flip it open.
(Nylion Alabaster)
[21:55] Sunsets over Moonlight watches Nylion leave the wall and walk over to the shelves. Do they notice the signs? Maybe. They're at the non-fiction shelves which hold none of the Luminary's books.
Alas, their notes were scrubbed clean- they know given how the cover looks from the distance.
Ah, they know what Nylion is doing. "That's some of Radiant Svengalf's work. I used to have a nice note there but," a sigh. They cross in the space between the pools of water.
"This is where the non-fiction texts are. The Lumin King's flora research is here, too. Along with a few guides." Quite the opposite of what they write.
They stand near the second shelf from the left. "This is where most of my work is."
(Sunsets over Moonlight)
[22:08] Signs be damned, Sunsets - there are games to be played with the logistics of reading your literature.
They do in fact take a moment to consider the contents of the book, skimming with obvious half-interest before slowly bringing it closed, having come to a full conclusion on what kind of person Svengalf truly is in his heart of hearts.
"A nice man, if too sweet." They more soberly walk over to the section which Sunsets designates as the target, stepping lightly and halting just before Sunsets over Moonlight, taking a moment to visually weigh them, toe to tip.
After a little haughty raise of their chin, Nylion closes their eyes and reaches out to land their fingers upon the spine of
Starstruck by Sunsets over Moonlight.
Without looking upon the cover of the book, Nylion takes it in their hands and gingerly rests one palm upon its front. They open their eyes, looking upon Sunsets a few moments longer before slowly, slowly opening the book to a potentially-random selection near the middle bits.
Lake.
And so Nylion murmurs,
"A rabbit scurried beneath the undergrowth...", continuing onward in that fashion until they pause upon "cleaned poorly, its hue so vibrant."
They stare, reading and re-reading the poem, weighing it all the same. Something uncomfortable registers beneath the surface of their features as they focus upon the third stanza, the words seemingly lingering upon their thoughts.
"This was a good poem, though altogether a very bad lake. Who are you describing, or what?" Nylion's eyes flick up at Sunsets, chin still lowered toward the pages. Hair hangs to either side of their face.
(Nylion Alabaster)
[22:14] The book snaps and loads into its spot once more. Nylion wanders to the shelf in question where the books of the esteemed, acclaimed, famous poet Sunsets over Moonlight lies.
Somehow feeling the weight now. A better idea to not read it over in their presence. Worse assumed once digits peel at a particular golden color, their books treated in a unique fashion that make each stand out.
". . ."
Aloud, quiet, they mumble a few lines. Its opening familiar and they feel whisked into that state of mind once more. Their chin tilts upwards, trying to glean the pages to return them back to that lake.
"Mh. I've been told that explaining my poems takes away the magic. Who do you think I'm describing?" they turn the question onto Nylion instead, olive hues meeting their own.
(Sunsets over Moonlight)
[22:26] They pause, staring back at Sunsets over Moonlight for some time. Slowly the gears click into place, and as they transition from the thought of some distant horror with those features to something more obviously accurate,
they pffbtt, then sullenly frown. "You're not allowed to sneak the self-disgust in." Nylion closes their eyes, slowly releasing another haughty huff.
They count four breaths, then reach out to gently press their left index finger against the underside of Sunsets's jaw and their thumb just atop their chin.
"... this isn't what people see when they look at you, anymore. I don't think that it's what they saw when you wrote it, either." The book-hand holds steady, maintaining a spread of the spine.
"Or, well, I guess I don't know what anybody else sees, really. No one looks at the world the same way, do they?" Nylion opens their eyes then, glimmering as they withdraw their hand, raise the book, and...
"I feel like I should pick out a different book and another excerpt. I think that's the right way to do this. What do you think?"
(Nylion Alabaster)
[22:38] Slow, Nylion's features turn. Realization, understanding. Inklings of their self-loathing found in the poem that starts off describing a scurrying rabbit. They huff, breathe evenly and they do not protest just yet until, well-
The Royal Guard seizes their chin.
Lashes flutter a few times, taken aback first and foremost. They stand stunned, not quite anticipating some breach into their personal space. They take pause half-way of taking a half-step back and lips half part-
Lips that do carry a crimson stain. Nothing as vibrant as one would expect. Accurate to its description like blood, or some equally as potent pigment, smeared off poorly.
A color similar nigh takes their features and they're quick to look at the shelves once Nylion's hand withdraws. "I either write it or say it." Stained lips speak pursed.
"...Starstruck is the one I am most proud of, but browse as you wish."
(Sunsets over Moonlight)
[22:48] "You are a memetic threat to the heir of the throne. Your words dismantle their ego and encourage them toward disbelief in their own capacities and distrust in their own judgment.
It bids me arrest you for sedition and defamation. But this once, I will show you discretion."
a courier delivers mail to melionette's sleeping, not-quite-drowning corpse
Nylion acquiesces, taking a little step toward Sunsets and turning their back to the bookshelf. They lean against its frame, cutting an angle between the poetry book and the poetry author, offering them a chance to read over the Royal Guard's metaphorical or literal shoulder. They slowly turn the pages back, closing their lips as they stare upon Autumn.
They read it top to bottom a few times over, silent as they consider it more seriously and thoroughly than the poem that it precedes.
(Nylion Alabaster)
[22:54] A call for arrest onto this piece of Sunsets over Moonlight. Something that bids them dragged low and beneath humbling at all times. Whatever it may be, peace made, expressed onto the page. Likely the healthiest outlet, if only to spare others the same thought a thousand times over.
Maybe time behind bars and a hefty fine might make this part of them think twice.
They smile just a bit, amused by Nylion's joke. "It's on the run. Hopefully someone might be able to catch it." They jest, watching as the Royal Guard leans and continues perusing Starstruck's poems.
A few pages back, Autumn. Silent. They watch, searching for any reaction.

[22:55] PM from (OOC)Edwyn Meeksworth: Uh.. Afk check
[23:05] "... It's difficult to tell whether the Queen refers to a theoretical future in which you did inherit, or you having witnessed an actual Queen whose status offered you an unfortunate mirror that provoked uncomfortable emotions.
The contrast that you draw between yourself and this Queen is the most obvious theme, and I think for this reason that it must be the former... but it could just as easily be someone that I've never met.
I guess it has to be someone I've never met, either way."
Nylion looks over to Sunsets again, eyeing their wings, presumably not very limp. "You make the comparison to the sun swallowing you whole. So in this future, perhaps you find a way to wrap the night around yourself, swallowed in advance of the sun that it might not find you.
Maybe a bit too Gala-y, though."
Nylion's lips press together, and then they offer a little shrug. "Could be a real queen, too. You have any commentary to add, or will you force me to wallow in mystery?"
(Nylion Alabaster)
[23:18] What are Nylion's thought? Of course they can likely share their thinking to the best their memory can recall. A quick flip to the front reveals exactly when publishing for Starstruck started.
Dissecting Autumn, forming a story from the words the Faeborne wove. Nylion eyes their wings and they bear some manner of glittering starlight, especially in its deep purples. Woven of aether opposed to just mana that composes most Faeborne wings.
"There is no Queen I personally look up to, especially not enough to write. I did enjoy the works of former Queen Raenesa Vanya. She wrote poetry, too... but this was when Delphina was a diarchy and also when Meranthe was briefly united as an Empire..."
Before their time, essentially. "Former Queen Aemiliya Alinteau is hardly anyone to look up to. She rule one of bloodshed and slip ups."
They let their gaze drift to the Lumin King, still wondering about the nature of his visit to the library today. "At some point, I will wear the crown. Against any of my wishes or however I may name myself, people will refer to me as 'Queen' in this far away future."
or I never liked the name they called her.
Rocking slow from heel to toe, they gauge Nylion's reaction once more.
(Sunsets over Moonlight)
[23:18] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "Her rule*"
[23:27] "I didn't interpret it as you looking up to this Queen figure. I viewed them as yet another of your horrors."
The glittering starlight offers evidence but not proof of the verdict if one considers the death of the author as a particularly important doctrine. Nylion opts to concede nevertheless. They comment with only the slightest reflection of bitterness,
"You don't seem very happy about it."
In truth perhaps few consider the Heir as someone who will inherit rather than the person who would. Is Camino falling over anytime soon? Can he fall over from old age? Good questions to be asked by people who don't want to be alive anymore. In Nylion's case they most certainly wish to remain alive for now, and so they close their eyes and let out a long, slow puff.
"I'm sleepy. But I've had fun looking at, err, more of your thoughts, so far.
They are..." Nylion pauses, taking the time to gradually close the book. They lean forward from the bookshelf, then turn to replace Starstruck where it deserves to be. "Harrowing."
A yawn provokes a wide, wide stretch. Their wings press against Sunsets, then pull back a few moments later. Nylion settles into a little smile and opens their eyes to look over at Sunsets again. They raise a thumbs-up.
"You're banned from going on flower trips without an escort.
If you will allow me to ban you, anyways."
(Nylion Alabaster)
[23:30] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "Ah. Well... mh. I suppose it is better than someone who is willing to assault the Lumin King for it."
[23:31] Sunsets over Moonlight leans back a bit once Nylion's outstretched wing poked them.
(Sunsets over Moonlight)
[23:32] Nylion Alabaster says, "It is goodnight for now then, Sunsets over Moonlight."
[23:32] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "Hm... I suppose I will fall over from boredom if there is no one willing to spend hours walking with me..."
[23:32] Sunsets over Moonlight says, "But, yes, rest well."
[23:32] Sunsets over Moonlight shoos them away.

[23:41] Camino de Caewynn asks, "Any particular reason?"
[23:42] Suliador exclaims, "I have seen some of my favorite people today, that helps!"
[23:42] Camino de Caewynn says, "Hm, I suppose it does."

[23:43] Sunsets over Moonlight asks, "Oh?"
[23:44] Suliador says, "Vanitas crafted the pots for me and enchanted them. I just need to begin making the fertilizer."
[23:45] Daire Silvanas asks, "Anything I could do to help?"
[23:45] Daire Silvanas says, "...well. Maybe not. I use fire..."
[23:45] Suliador says, "Maybe...I just need to think."
[23:45] Suliador says, "Yes but you have hands so you might still be useful."
[23:46] Daire Silvanas says, "The way you say that... mmh. Yes, you're right."
[23:56] Daire Silvanas asks, "...Hm... you said, this is the library, right?"
[23:56] Suliador exclaims, "Correct!"
[23:56] Daire Silvanas asks, "Is it okay if i look through the books?"
[23:56] Suliador says, "It's a public library."
[23:56] Daire Silvanas says, "Oh. Alright."
[23:56] Daire Silvanas says, "Thank you."
[23:57] Suliador asks, "For what?"
[23:57] Daire Silvanas says, "Uh..."
